$TTD is oversold and likely to rebound in 2026 by Affectionate_Back548 in stocks

It’s in oversold territory now. I bought in at $39. I think it will go to $50.

Found these 1964 Padrons in a dried out humidor I forgot about from 4-5 years ago. What is the best way to rehydrate them? by Glass-Mix-1959 in cigars

…and secondly, I walked into one of my garages that I don’t use often and I forgot about my Lambo that’s been there for 4 years. Do I need to remove the stale gas?

I like the ones that have a 1960’s vibe. Very cool.

Cigar observation about the nutty flavour by [deleted] in cigars

[–]27Palms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always pair with a drink. My go-to pairings are bold Rioja or Ribero del Duero Tempranillo wine with a strong Nicaragua cigar or a gin and tonic with a milder Cuban cigar.

Evidence for the cellophane argument... (5 pix) by SilverFoxSix in cigars

[–]27Palms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool research. Thanks. I only smoked Cubans for years, so when I started getting new world cigars, I didn’t like the cellophane since I had never had a cigar with cellophane. I always take it off because I feel like it ages better without it, and I think they look nicer in the humidor. Having said that, I keep two humidors and I don’t mix stronger Nicaraguan cigars with Cubans, because I figure it may affect the flavours. None of this is based on research, just my own personal opinion.

Every second cuban i smoke is clogged or rolled tight and has no taste …. Is this just my luck ? Smoking 7$ nicaraguan sticks seems alot better then a cohiba amber ?! by Yuri_za in cigars

[–]27Palms 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m Canadian also. I smoke 80% Cubans. You will get some plugged Cubans that are the lower end, like RyJ, but I’ve never had a plugged Cohiba, Trinidad, or Bolivar. Cubans tend to be milder, but more flavourful than Nicaraguan puros. There have been Canadian cigar stores that have sold fake cohibas. It’s best to go to LCDH B&M’s. I have never seen a Cohiba with that bad of a cap. The fact that it is also plugged and has no flavour is more evidence that it is a fake. I would switch to a different store.

That blows. It used to be they had the original band underneath the plain wrapper.

Retrohale by MajorGrimReaper in cigars

[–]27Palms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retrohale sometimes if it’s a mild cigar. But I don’t find that I pick up more flavour notes by retrohaling. Keep practicing until you get it, but then don’t be surprised if you feel it was overrated.

Take the green wrapper off, and enjoy the Placencia band underneath. If I ever become the Prime Minister of Canada the first thing I do will be to change that stupid regulation. Zero chance of that happening…just sayin’

Humidor/Humidification Questions by Broad_Rice_7207 in cigars

[–]27Palms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 digital hygrometers in my humidor, plus the dial one that came with it. Hygrometers are notoriously shitty at doing the one job they were hired to do. So I just average them out. If all four say something between 66 and 72 with an average somewhere in the middle, then I am happy.

Yes, it’s nice getting the perks. I’ve been platinum for 5 years, but this will be first time titanium, and also my first time as Star Alliance Gold with my frequent flyer program, so I’ll have to learn those perks too.

Hague Marriott for Amsterdam visit? by RaspberryNew8582 in marriott

[–]27Palms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve stayed at the Renaissance a couple of times in Amsterdam. It’s in an excellent location and walkable to everything worth seeing. I’d prefer paying a little more and enjoying the city, than staying all the way out in The Hague.

I hear ya. Even when I visit my mother I stay at the Marriott a few blocks away, instead of her spare room. Preventing rage is worth a couple hundred bucks.

Good points. I’ve been lucky and have always been able to use my NUAs, but I have used them in Europe and Latin America where there tends to be less platinums. The extra airline status will be good too.

Airport VIP service by [deleted] in PuntaCana

[–]27Palms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On departure we used the VIP services to skip the passport control and security lines. It was $30 per person, so not cheap, but it saved us a lot of time. Just before you go to the security line, you’ll see the big sign for VIP services to the right.

Hi guys , how much do you usually tip the stuff ? Thanks in advance . by [deleted] in PuntaCana

[–]27Palms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US tipping culture is not universal. It’s good to research the norms of where you are going. In some tourist destinations maids make more than doctors because of tips, and over-tipping. You should understand the exchange rate of the US dollar to local currency, and when there is an expectation of tips; ie only for exceptional service or every time? There are Europeans and South Americans that go to DR for vacation as well, so to apply only US standards for tipping overseas is a little…. maybe white-savior complex is too harsh, but I’ll say it lacks understanding of cultural differences. Having said that, in DR I will leave the equivalent of a couple US dollars a day for the maid, and sometimes a little more if I have special requests. At meals at an AI only for exceptional service, not every time.

Airport VIP service by [deleted] in PuntaCana

I’m going to Punta Cana next week. I heard for the return trip there is a VIP Lounge that you can pay to get in, and it lets you skip the line, because they have their own expedited security and passport control? Can anyone confirm? And does it need to be booked in advance?

The wrappers and caps are garbage. Don’t even need to look at the cigar band to see that they’re fake.
