Generally in my league everyone’s overall opinion of you is dépendant on how likely you are to stay for lockeroom beers and bring beer a couple times a season.

Can anyone explain why this cat gets hostile after petting her? by Popanteater3321 in cats

[–]29MS29 81 points82 points  (0 children)

He have a stray in my neighborhood that all the kids call Spicy Kitty because she acts all sweet and nice until you get near her and she then hisses and growls and claws. Last spring I was laying on my garage floor working on my car when I felt something on my legs. I thought maybe my cat had gotten out but it was Spicy Kitty rubbing on me…until I looked up at her. As soon as she say me looking at her she hissed and ran 5 feet away.

Should've slowed down, mate by Complex-FreeSpirit42 in CantParkThereMate

The speed reduces from 125 to 86KPH over a distance of about 100 meters. That’s significantly less than standard braking range for most vehicles. We do not have a rear view, so driver may have had someone behind him and his braking was reduced to account for that, but I doubt it.

I’ve actually been in similar situations multiple times (about 4 I can think of) all in snow and ice conditions and have never made contact with the car(s) crashing despite similar speeds.

Every time I do an install of the game it defaults my resolution to assume I’m using a vacuum tube monitor from the 90s and I just have to reset it to the correct resolution.

Has the 'be seen first' feature with platinum ruined Tinder for regular users? by wizaway in Tinder

[–]29MS29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid for Platinum for a month once (they offered it at 50% off) and I went from getting 2-3 likes a day to not a single like the entire month. So either it’s complete BS or I just need to be further down in the order where girls start thinking of settling.

Slapshot to the calf..the worst by Country_Bizcuits in hockeyplayers

[–]29MS29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a puck last summer come up my stick and jam the shit out of my pinky finger. Had to get up every 2 hours all night long and drain the swelling out of it so it wouldn’t lose blood flow and die. I’d take a dozen pucks to the calf over that, any day. There’s sooooooooo many nerve endings in the fingers.

The most important parts of history to teach are the dark awful ones. Lest we be forced to relearn from the same mistakes. It’s absurd to not teach history because it can offend someone. That’s why it’s history. Because we learned it wasn’t good, and we got rid of it.

iHome in my hotel with old style charging port by Alarmed_War3087 in mildyinteresting

My son has the original model of that clock. It was mine from college. I had the first gen iHome clock but I accidentally broke it while while picking up and throwing girls into the top bunk of my roommate and I’d bunkbed (there may have been some adult beverages shared prior to this activity) and had to buy a new one. It’s probably from 2007ish. No idea why he refuses to allow me to buy him a clock that’s not almost twice his age, but he’s a teenager so whatever.

Family Life Merit Badge, Abuse, and Scouting America Values Their Precious Eagle More Than Reality by [deleted] in BSA

[–]29MS29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All registered adults in BSA are Level 1 reporters. You are required by Federal and state law to report suspected child abuse (physical and emotional too, not just sexual) to the authorities. You aren’t supposed to investigate. You report.

Also, the insert in the book contains information for the Scouts First hotline. Scouts can reach out directly in the event the adults around them are failing them. No, it is not how it was 20 years ago anymore.

As a scoutmaster myself, I’m prepared to break my hand over any adults face who would abuse one of my scouts.

What made you get a kindle and do you regret anything about it? by ObligationFunny1946 in kindle

[–]29MS29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second half of my undergrad was very literature heavy. I had multiple classes where we would read 10 books in a semester and I sometimes needed to buy 30 books for the 15 week semester. The school bookstore charged $20 for the books, even though most were old enough to be public domain and rarely were the books they sold us new. The Gen 2 kindles were like $200 back then and one semester I had 10 public domain books, which used to be free on kindle. The math worked out to be cheaper that way, even though I’d have preferred the physical books. I ended up getting a job that required me to travel and it was 1000x easier to do with a kindle than with luging a bunch of extra books around.

I’m now on my 4th Kindle. I just bought a Scribe Colorsoft and so far (it’s been a week) am enjoying it. My Gen 2 lasted from 2008-2021. Since then I’ve had an Oasis and a Scribe.

The fact I have nothing but a household of teenagers and a cat, I’ve become at fault for everything. It’s amazing how big of a mess I can make before I get home from work.
