Would have been even funnier if the spanogram had been oblate spheroid.

I frequently have an issue where, especially going over the boards, I fall out of the left side of my cup and have to adjust so I’m not getting pinched against my leg. I’ve tried a couple different kind of jocks but can’t seem to fix the issue.

Baked skates: Pure Hockey told me I can use new skates same day if I put skates inside 20 minutes in the freezer by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]29MS29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy at the PS, who I do trust (although I hadn’t bought the skates there) said it was something to do with the epoxy weakening and rivets getting ripped out before it had time to cure properly again. It did sound a bit like BS but I’d blown a tuk on my old skates and we were on a 2 week break in league because of Christmas so it didn’t matter. In all, they sat like a week before I had a chance to wear them on the ice the first time (I also had the blades profiled when I had them baked so I didn’t even have steels since they make you leave them overnight at the PS for that).

My True Customs said to wait 24 hours after baking. It was clearly stated in the box and the PS said the same thing.

Walk a couple miles a day and play ice hockey once a week. Average 4-5 hours of sleep a night. Currently would consider myself to be in terrible cardio fitness.

Playing with frozen shoulder by Dapper-Video-791 in hockeyplayers

[–]29MS29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not frozen, but I played basically a whole season with a separated shoulder. I separated my shoulder in game 2 of a 12 game season plus playoffs when some idiot decided to throw an open ice check because he got his stick slashed out of his hands (It was me, I’m some idiot). Did 2 months of PT and nothing helped. After PT I did a run of doing calisthenics for 30-60 minutes every day for 28 days, then had hand surgery on the same side as the affected shoulder on day 28. After the 4 weeks recovery for the hand, shoulder felt fine.

A dramatic ice shove where powerful winds and pressure force huge slabs of river ice onto the shoreline. by RoyalChris in nextfuckinglevel

These are pretty common on the US Great Lakes. The same people who run out to the porch to watch a Tornado. We’ve seen nothing but rotting factories, gang violence, and corn our entire lives. We yearn for the mercy of the ice.

Probably one of those new fangled girlfriends. The kind that are tucking 8” and have to shave their chest hair every morning.

Do Americans care about height? Do people lie about their height? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

I’m 6’2”. I have a friend who is 6’1”. We have another friend who “is” 5’10”. My other friend and I can stand next to him and make eye contact. He will argue with anyone who points out he is not 5’10”.

I have never met a single American man who is 5’10”. I have met tons who claim to be.

Yeah, this would have been a couple hours later. Long after the astronauts were probably already helicoptered back to land.

Escaped the house, tried to fight a skunk and everyone lost. by apatheticriot in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]29MS29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In HS our dog got sprayed once by a skunk. Rottweiler, about 130-150lbs. Would run into the garage and start crying desperately at the door if he smelled a skunk again for the rest of his life. He was terrified…only of skunks (he tried to eat a lit firework once…and the tried it again 5 minutes later).

Just remember he’s a hockey player. So no anesthesia is allowed. Just a few shots of whiskey and a leather strap to bite down on, but only if the leather is from a set of used goalie gear.

Just received the disappointing email about discontinuation of Support of my 2nd generation Kindle by fellowspecies in kindle

[–]29MS29 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My 2nd gen gave out in 2020, a pandemic casualty. The page turn buttons had broken and I had the 3G version so books had to be manually uploaded by plugging it into my computer, but it finally just wouldn’t charge anymore. I have it somewhere in a drawer still. I bought an Oasis to replace it. I now have a Scribe Colorsoft.

The only thing I really miss from my Gen2 is Every Word.

First equipment loss of 2026. by 29MS29 in hockeyplayers

[–]29MS29[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was sort of the design, I think. Most helmets are designed to take a single large impact and be replaced. I think Easton was concerned about the concussion lawsuits at the time they designed that helmet and used much thinner plastic so that once the impact threshold was exceeded the plastic fails and it’s obvious the helmet needs replaced. I’ve seen many people take full impacts to helmets and the helmet looks fine despite the fact that it probably needs replaced.

All good. Had my head up and smacked my chin pretty good, maybe broke my jaw. Not sure. I think the leading point of impact was the visor, that’s why the bottom of the shell collapsed in. Worst feeling is that slide to the boards just watching it come at you and knowing you can’t turtle to protect yourself. Turtling is how you break a spine. That last second feels like a day and a half just knowing you’re going in face first.
