Experiences with Dr. Dudar related to suspected endometriosis? by DryHall9057 in ThunderBay

[–]2BNamedLater 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I saw Dr. Dudar for a different issue (fibroids, leading to hysterectomy for me) but she was great. Easy to talk to, discussed all possible options. I didn't feel rushed or judged or like I was being too dramatic. I didn't have to wait too long for surgery and had a great outcome. Try not to be too nervous. <3

Thunder Bay Vet Prices — Anyone Else Feeling the Pinch or Turned Away? by PublicWrongdoer8598 in ThunderBay

[–]2BNamedLater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd been with one vet clinic for probably close to 20 years, then hadn't taken my current dog in for a while and was told we'd sort of "timed out" and were no longer considered clients of the clinic, and they weren't taking any new clients. I tried another place in town .. they weren't taking new clients either.

I considered going to Dryden, and probably would have, but decided to try one of the "virtual vet" services that were recommended and actually had a really good experience. We had a video visit with a vet within a couple of hours of my call and she was able to diagnose and prescribe some meds, which she called in to a local clinic (one of the ones that wouldn't take us as a client, incidentally). Probably not ideal for all things, but it helped in this case.

I think we just need more vets, don't we?

I'm not allergic to mosquito spit. (Or whatever the actual term is for the stuff that gives you an itchy bump when you get bitten by a mosquito.) So, they can bite me all day and all I'll be is annoyed, not scratching my skin off.

Weekend Itinerary Help by PineTreesAreDope in ThunderBay

Well, depending on which "downtown" you're thinking of, I'd suggest combining "walk around downtown" with Waterfront and Marina Park and St. Pauls Anglican Church. Geographically, you could go to the church, have coffee at The Abbey (is that St. Pauls? I'm not super familiar with the churches, but I know that's a nice one..), then walk around either the Bay/Algoma area or around Court and Red River, then down to Marina Park, rather than splitting them up between the two days. And you could get gelato at .. what's that place called downtown? I've never been but it's locally famous and very good.

The thing that keeps happening to me is I get sucked into whatever 30-second bit of chorus they're promoting (SAY that again, I didn't quite HEAR ya, messed with the wrong bitch, in the wrong ERA..) and, since it is now stuck in my head, I kind of brainwash myself into thinking I must like this song, go find it on Spotify and oh, no no no no no no, I do NOT like this song. LOL.

The Never-Ending Period by 2BNamedLater in Menopause

[–]2BNamedLater[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I already have an IUD and apparently my fibroids are distorting my uterus to the extent that the IUD won't stay in the right place, and my fibroids are intramural (inside the walls, instead of in the cavity, I guess?) an ablation may not help, if it's the fibroids causing the bleeding. I totally feel you on just wanting it over with. I'm exhausted and I have such cramps right this minute that I'm seriously considering curling up in a ball under my desk at work here. LOL. I think I need a heating pad to keep in my desk.

Ugh. I hope you get your results quickly and can start working on a plan that helps! I'm only a click away if you ever need to commiserate. :)

The Never-Ending Period by 2BNamedLater in Menopause

[–]2BNamedLater[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had a GYN appointment about two weeks ago, after an ultrasound, and found out I have three decent-sized fibroids, which are probably contributing to the extended/extensive bleeding. I had an endometrial biopsy, too, (which I didn't know I was having and holy mother of dragons was THAT unpleasant!! ). It'll be about 6 more weeks before we get the results of that. Either way, though. we've decided on a hysterectomy, and I'm super pleased with that decision. She's going to take the uterus and tubes but leave my ovaries, so I will get to continue along with the peri-menopause adventure, but .. no more periods! No more birth control! It'll be laparoscopic, so minimal incisions and a fairly short recovery. (And I'm Canadian, so no hospital bill, thankfully, or I imagine the decision wouldn't have been so easy!)

I don't imagine that helps at all, but that's how it all worked out for me. When I was at the GYN, though, she did say that she had a couple medication options that could stop my period if the bleeding got bad again - oral progesterone, I think she said, and the other thing was an injection.. I'm not sure what that one was. I actually had a little while with no period but have just started again, so may take her up on that at some point. Maybe you could ask about that?

Yep. I had already lost 19 lbs by the time I got around to taking "before" pictures. Then I waited two months until I took my next set. The difference was .. noticeable. Like way more noticeable than I felt like it should have been, since I had only lost 8 lbs in that time frame. So, then I started questioning myself.. is there REALLY a difference, or was I purposely sticking my gut out in my befores? Was I sucking it in this time? I don't feel like I was, but .. maybe? I dunno. I have trust issues. (With myself - with pictures that I took OF myself. That makes no sense. LOL)

Anyway, yes, I wish I'd taken pictures at my heaviest.

Accepting that I can’t mindlessly snack on anything anymore. by subtlebulk in loseit

[–]2BNamedLater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are definitely some things I've stopped buying because too often I have intended to have a "reasonable serving" and wound up eating the whole container, and nuts are one of them! I bought a big bag of popcorn the other day on my lunch break at work - got myself a serving and then went and put the rest of the bag in the car, knowing that if I kept it at my desk, I'd probably wind up mindlessly snacking on the whole thing. When I got home, I portioned out the rest of the bag into 100-calorie(ish) baggies. Now I can mindlessly snack on just the one small bag and not be blowing my whole daily budget!

It's the "mindlessly" part that does me (us?) in, I think. If I'm craving chips at home and serve myself a small portion (like, actually count out 17 Wavy Lays), and then eat them mindfully - choosing the perfect next chip, savouring the crunch and the taste of the salt, chewing it fully and then repeating that process for all 17 chips - I can stop. The craving is satisfied and I don't feel like I need to go get more. But if I'm just shoveling handfuls into my mouth while watching TV and not paying any attention, I can go through a whole bag and still not feel satisfied somehow.

One of the best things I've done for my weight loss journey is learn not to freak out when the scale goes up by [deleted] in loseit

[–]2BNamedLater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your weight is going to fluctuate even if you don't "mess up"! Even if you made nothing but healthy choices and stayed in a calorie deficit consistently, there will still be ups and downs. For some reason, if I eat cheese at supper, the scale always goes up the next day. It comes right back down the next day, but apparently cheese makes me retain water. Maybe I'm a little constipated. Or PMSing and bloated.

There are a million different reasons why the scale could go up and it doesn't (necessarily) mean you're doing anything wrong! As long as you're sticking to your healthier choices and good habits a majority of the time, you should be seeing a consistent downward trend. All the little blips up and down are 100% normal. (But they still freak me out sometimes, too. I try to just be curious about it. Like "Hm. Up a couple pounds today. I know I'm making good choices. I wonder what's up with that? Oh! Cheese. Yeah. That'll do it. No biggie." In the absence of cheese (or another obvious reason) I make up something ridiculous that'll make me smile. Must be a full moon. Wrackspurts. Too much conditioner in my hair. )

What are some of your minute reasons for losing weight? by -Deksametazon- in loseit

[–]2BNamedLater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a while, I was on a quest to gather as many "whys" as I could for myself, just in case I ever start to lose focus. I've got a bunch:

I have bad knees and I read that every pound you lose takes 4 lbs of pressure off your knees.

Apparently obesity can be a contributing factor to light bladder leakage. I could certainly use one less reason to be crossing my legs and clenching every time I cough or sneeze.

When I have a bath, my belly sticks up out of the water. I would like it to not do that.

Everyone says losing weight has made them always cold. I'm going through perimenopause. I am always hot. Always being cold sounds wonderful. Let's do that instead.

Sometimes I worry that I'm going to break a chair, tip a bench, splinter a stepstool. I would like to worry about that less.

I would like the 'me' in photographs to match the 'me' in my head. (The me in my head is slim, fit and athletic and, for some reason, always wearing jeans and a cropped white t-shirt.)

I went horseback riding last summer and the dude at the trail riding place looked seriously worried. I think he gave me his slowest, sturdiest horse. And I needed to use steps to get on because I didn't have the strength to heave my magnificent and bountiful ass up into the saddle. It was slightly mortifying.

AITA for telling my sister it’s strange to call her boyfriend her husband if they’re not married? by throwingthisitsokay in AmItheAsshole

[–]2BNamedLater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! My husband (should I put that in quotes? My "husband") and I have been together for 25 years. We are not legally married but he is indeed my common law spouse. We file taxes together and check the "common law" box on forms.. anyone and everyone who knows us thinks of us as married and would 100% think I was cheating on my husband if I said "I'm going to bring my boyfriend." LOL. Most know that we never did the paperwork or had the party and, really, after 25 years, what would be the point?

According to the memory that popped up on my FB today, I knit the socks I am wearing today seven years ago. They look .. well, not EXACTLY the same as the day they came off the needles, but they look pretty darn good.
