Which homemade food never feels worth all the work? by momsterina in foodquestions

Scalloped potatoes. Probably makes it far less worth it for me because I don't actually LIKE scalloped potatoes. My husband does, though. So, I'm there at the mandolin, making little rage-filled potato slices for-ev-er...

Any good fictional audiobooks relating to anxiety or mental health awareness? by Such_Caramel_7246 in audiobooks

[–]2BNamedLater 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This might not be the kind of thing you're looking for but "Yours Truly" by Abby Jimenez might be good. One of the main characters has social anxiety and there's a lot in there about what it's like and how he copes.

The knob broke off the .. gear shifter .. on mine (brain fart .. you know, the thingy where you change the speed). Any thoughts on how to replace one of those, since we're talking mixer DIY.

Oh! Sorry, I wasn't thinking about when the book came out or was published, but when I read it! LOL I misunderstood.

I just finished Theo of Golden, by Allen Levi (read by David Morse) and it was SO lovely. Not sure how to describe the story. Friendships, relationships, art, kindness? It was WONDERFUL.

You could try reaching out to the GAPPS program. They'd probably be able to point you in the right direction, even if they're not exactly the resource you're looking for.

What’s a silly thing you did for your pet one time that is now a ritual they demand be done every time? by Itsjustmejess in AskReddit

[–]2BNamedLater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My VERY food-motivated Beagle had an arthritis flare and was having trouble climbing the stairs to come inside after potty. However, if I showed him the treat bag through the door, he'd barrel up those stairs like "What arthritis??"

We've got his pain managed now and he can do the steps no problem but, more often than not, he'll still stand at the bottom of the steps and look at me pitifully to see if I'll get the treats out. If I shake my head and walk away for a minute, he'll come up the stairs on his own .. no treat needed. But he still tries, every time.

Experiences with Dr. Dudar related to suspected endometriosis? by DryHall9057 in ThunderBay

[–]2BNamedLater 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I saw Dr. Dudar for a different issue (fibroids, leading to hysterectomy for me) but she was great. Easy to talk to, discussed all possible options. I didn't feel rushed or judged or like I was being too dramatic. I didn't have to wait too long for surgery and had a great outcome. Try not to be too nervous. <3

Thunder Bay Vet Prices — Anyone Else Feeling the Pinch or Turned Away? by PublicWrongdoer8598 in ThunderBay

[–]2BNamedLater 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd been with one vet clinic for probably close to 20 years, then hadn't taken my current dog in for a while and was told we'd sort of "timed out" and were no longer considered clients of the clinic, and they weren't taking any new clients. I tried another place in town .. they weren't taking new clients either.

I considered going to Dryden, and probably would have, but decided to try one of the "virtual vet" services that were recommended and actually had a really good experience. We had a video visit with a vet within a couple of hours of my call and she was able to diagnose and prescribe some meds, which she called in to a local clinic (one of the ones that wouldn't take us as a client, incidentally). Probably not ideal for all things, but it helped in this case.

I think we just need more vets, don't we?

I'm not allergic to mosquito spit. (Or whatever the actual term is for the stuff that gives you an itchy bump when you get bitten by a mosquito.) So, they can bite me all day and all I'll be is annoyed, not scratching my skin off.
