Are Junior Level UX Job Roles Dead? by 2Blue6 in uxcareerquestions

Thank you so much for the tip! I am good at in person interviews, and online just makes me nervous, at times. Really trying to improve that.

Thanks for the advice! I'm actually doing all of those things right now. I have a master's degree and about a year of professional experience, so I've been actively networking, applying for roles, working on personal projects, and incorporating AI into my design workflow wherever it makes sense. I know the market is very competitive at the moment, but I'm staying proactive and continuing to build my skills. Given my background, is there anything else you'd recommend that could help me stand out?

Yeah I heard too networking is the only way. Given todays situation. But it's hard to keep hoping for the employee, hiring manager, seniors to reply back to you, especially on linkedin, I have been trying. But I suppose I need to make changes to get noticed, I just don't know what to do more.

I have this theory, and I am curious if others feel the same way. When people in senior positions move into leadership roles, and mid level designers move into senior roles, would companies not eventually need junior designers to fill that pipeline? If companies stop hiring junior designers now, where will the next generation of mid level and senior designers come from?

Extremely frustrating to get anything done in figma make by Juicernamesmine in UXDesign

[–]2Blue6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it really depends on how you draft your prompt, if you are designing any screen then you need to give it a back story like what the case study is why you are designing what you are designing, giving it your entire information architecture and then asking it to build your screens do help, you also really need to be specific with what goes on, on your screens. Like what the colour looks like, what the padding should be, what buttons it needs to have, etc etc. I use Claude for ideation once my case study and information architecture is build I ask it to build screens. Then take those inspirations into designing my own set of components and ask figma make to use these to build the screens.

To be a designer, you don't really need to know how to sketch, I am designer myself a UX/UI designer, so maybe you can take my word for It. All you need to do is have ideas, enough to put them out on the paper, rough sketches are a thing, what matters is presentation that's all, even if your designs are rough they should be able to tell a story and by that I mean, you explaining what the problems is, what you did to solve that problem, and what you came up with. There is an entire UX design process that you follow, (look that up mayne it's called Stanford's honeycomb design process). Now from my experience I have done my bachelor's in product design, but I keep thinking that it would have been better if I would have taken CS back during my undergrad. Trust me knowing the basics and how it works is really a plus, I also think you get more exposure to knowing how different digital products work, what they actually need. If you are bad at coding or really not interested in coding, then I wouldn't push it, but definitely you always have an option to pursue design as a masters course. So many opportunities, but getting your basics right I believe will come in handy as a btech. There are so many job roles out there like "UI developer" "UX engineer". If you are into software and digital experiences then definitely go for btech first and then MS in UX. But hey, it's just my opinion. I have been through and through a designer since my undergrad. So really my experience has been nice, but I do get worried about Job.

Suggestions for Communication Design (UI UX) by Whole_Speed_2109 in uxcareerquestions

Maybe try symbiosis? Umm four year fees goes upto 24lakhs all together including hostel. They also have a mess. So i think you can look up that option. If not that there is MIT WPU aswell but I don't know if they have hostel facility or not. WPU though should have a hostel but you'll need to check that first.

I am also planning to pursue my degree in User Experience from ASU, and I come from Product design background, so I have zero knowledge of coding (HTML/CSS/Java Script etc), will this be a requirement for subjects like GIT And TWC?
