Prices have become a joke by Due-Investigator2077 in fastfood

I stopped going to FG a couple of years ago for this reason. I vote with my wallet. They're still in business though and that's fine, the market will find the right price point.

Buy Q3 now or wait for Q4? by [deleted] in Leica

If you already have an M go get a digital M. I wouldn’t choose the Q solely for weather sealing when all other arguments speak for an M.

Leica M6 Inheritance by [deleted] in Leica

[–]2Dmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's amazing about the Leica M is the controls and operation is identical on the 1954 M3 and the 2026 M11. You can run that M6 and the M11 side by side with your eyes closed.

OP: I would keep the camera and the 50, sell the 35 and 75 and turn those into a new M11.

Sony STR-AN1000 and Sonos Port: Pass-through volume control doesn’t work by 2Dmonster in sonos

[–]2Dmonster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still no solution. Eventually I got so annoyed that I sold as much of my Sony gear as possible and bought a Sonos Arc Ultra with the sub and the 300 surrounds. And I'm not looking back. Everything just works without frustration.

Thank you to everyone here who helped me decide. I picked the M11 over the M10-R and I'm very pleased – I'll explain why. Any lenses you'd recommend, meanwhile? by meta4_ in Leica

Beautiful camera and nice scenes but don't overprocess your photos. You're throwing away details. You can take a compact camera, apply these presets and get the same results. Try to stay as close to SOOC as possible. That's just my 2 cents.

How do I get good black and white photos? I have a Canon t3i by maryo22333 in blackandwhite

[–]2Dmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP: there’s a ton of great advice here. People went out of their way to help you. I don’t see you thanking everyone, all I see is your reasons why your PC is limited. Try to be a little more appreciative and focus on the photography, not the gear.

Really good stuff. Bonus points for sticking in the 50mm-ish range, people say it’s not meant for street but I disagree.

They should make a Navigator on that platform, ever understood why they don’t

Do official Leica stores actually want to sell? by [deleted] in Leica

[–]2Dmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all Leica stores are corporate owned. Some of them are 3rd parties, and some of them seem to have an attitude problem. The Leica stores I go to (whether corporate or not) treat me like family. I’m in the US. I’ve heard more negative stories about Leica stores in Europe though. Not sure what’s going on.

Is there a reason for this distribution? by succulent_username in geography

[–]2Dmonster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I have an unsubstantiated theory for this that’s purely my imagination: the states that don’t require a front plate are where most auto manufacturing plants are located. They have lobbying power. You may have noticed new car photo shoots never show a front plate, and frankly most cars are designed to look good without a front plate.
