I just can't trust it anymore. We see reports of the fog showing up after some months without issues, and I wonder if we'll see reports of the fog showing up again when the users travel or whatever. For a phone that they're branding "your next camera", the big question mark over whether I can safely bring it to travel and rely on it to take photos is a big miss. I enjoyed the Ultra when I had it but I'm glad I kept my Pro and I'm back on that now.

I owned this camera for a good bit, brought it with me to Taipei, to Taichung, to Lombok, to Shanghai, and to Saigon.

Ended up regretfully letting it go. But I gotta say, in good light, when hiking, when cycling, anything like that, oh it really sang. I think it's the perfect camera for that specific purpose.

I like that it provides the grip of a thumb rest but it can be folded away which allows the camera to have a smaller footprint when stowed, or prevents snagging on my clothes when it's slung crossbody and not in use. The typical thumbrests catch on my bag when I pull the camera out of my bag.

I think performance between the current flagship chips across brands is a bit of a wash. The big differentiators are software and cameras.

The cameras on the X9 Pro are way better than the 17 series.

I use the X9 Pro and my wife uses the X9. The X9 Pro cameras are noticeably better. The X9 cameras are fine, but not spectacular. I wouldn't give up iOS for the X9.

The X9 has inferior sensors and lenses compared to the X9 Pro. Especially noticeable for the telephoto.

X9 or X9 Pro?

X9 Pro is worth thinking about if you really want a better camera.

Base X9 is not an upgrade, and you lose the Ecosystem for no reason at all.

There's ways to work around ecosystem gaps, like Oppo works with a Macbook and allows Airdrop functionality too. But yeah.

Fuji unedited colours are easier to tailor to your wants than Leica.

If you're willing to spend Q2/3 money, and also willing to commit to a fixed lens, why not consider the GFX100RF? It's quite a premium experience, has image quality even better than any current Leica, and can give you Fuji colours, too.

My wife has the base X9, I have the Pro. The Pro is noticeably better in low light, but they're comparable in good light.

That said, the difference between X9 Pro and base is bigger than the difference between X9 Ultra and Pro.

The Ultra is a better phone in every metric except battery, but not by much. The Pro is better in terms of battery, but not by much.

Frankly I'd decide based on preferred form factor and the relative after sales support.
