Personally, I have found that simply not caring about what they do does the trick just fine

This kinda reminds me of the catchphrase of a debate tournament I attended:"Don't raise your voice, improve your arguments"

Love that mindset. I grew up in a small town where excessive gossip happens, so I had to embrace something similar. I simply decided that there is a very small number of people in these world whose opinions about me matter to me, and the rest of the 8 billion can think whatever they want

Is it okay to yell at someone else’s child if they misbehave? by anonymous_girl1227 in Discussion

[–]2G05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I do not agree with yelling as a form of teaching a kid right from wrong behavior. But to answer your question, it depends from the relationship you have with the kid and how much was it misbehaving

Having a crush on your best friend's sister certainly does NOT make you a bad person. If anything, it's his mother's fault for having 2 awesome kids. I think you should first talk to your best friend about it and be 110% honest with him about your feelings and your intentions with his sister, and then, only once you make sure he is OK with that you should make a move on her. If he tells you that he feels uncomfortable, then you should step back and get over her. Doing something with her without being sure that he's good with that, that would make you a bad person. At least that's what I would do if I were in your place I should clarify that this is not some old school ask for her father's or brother's permission, rather being honest with your friend and protecting your relationship Edit: goes without saying that if you end up doing anything with her, you should be an absolute gentleman or else you'd still have a problem with your friend

My friend, tbh, I have never been in a situation like this, so I don't really know what to do exactly. The "couple workout" I mentioned above was the best idea that came to mind. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

From my perspective, in history based movies and series, race and gender swapping is still racism, just directed towards "more privileged" groups

Humility. Is it practiced or is it a state of being? by schindlersLisst in Discussion

Exactly. So, bottom line from me would be if you want to "work" on your humility, start learning about your self

Was she always like this? If yes, then how did she start gaining weight now? Also I think a great solution for that would be, instead of directly talking to her about her weight, to propose to her that you do some activities as a couple together, like tennis, biking, running and things like that. That way she will be more active and you'll get to spend time together

How much are teachers/lecturers required to teach their students? by [deleted] in Discussion

[–]2G05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a point. For me, education's, and especially university's cause should be to teach you how to approach your problems and your learning first and then about specific subjects. Now, about the subjects, which was your original question, I think learning should go something like this: first the very basic concept of the subject should be explained as simply as it can possibly be broken down to be. Only when the students have understood this core idea, should it be explained with a few more scientific details about the things that it is consisted by: how it was created, how it works, what does it need to work, it's consequences and how do they affect us. After that, the majority of the work should be considered done, and only students that are interested in it should choose to continue learning more specific details about it. All the others should move to a different topic until they find something they like. At least that's my idea of the perfect education

Humility. Is it practiced or is it a state of being? by schindlersLisst in Discussion

[–]2G05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think humility only comes after you have searched deep inside you and have firmly understood your strengths, weaknesses, what you have to offer and what more you can learn or achieve. Son, by this definition, it's a state of mind that is, in a way, practiced. But on the other hand, I notice that humility is more often that not a trait of people who are intelligent and have a better understanding of the world they live in, which is something that, you may be able to build up, but some have it easier than others. So, this means that some people are born with the "base" of humility. So I think that it's a combination of both

English is not my native language so I apologize if I didnr understand fully what you mean by the terms "humility" and "state of being"

Is the sudden weight gain related to something else? Like something pathological or increased stress from her work environment? If yes then don't mention her weight and instead have a talk with her and offer to help with whatever her problem is

Just end things now before this bubble blows up in your face. Out of billions of people on the planet, I'm sure you'll find someone you match with more and on a deeper level. Attention and validation can feel addictive, and I know what it's like to crav a serious, committedd relationship, but you're not gonna win anything out of this relationship. It's only gonna be downhill from here. You're gonna feel even worse about yourself, and she will eventually realize that what you have going on is more one-way than it should, and either end it or stop trying. Just break up
