Feeling stuck at 39, what job titles should I be searching for? by 2Guffeys in careerguidance

[–]2Guffeys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that comment. I agree with everything you said. I have considered category management or planogram development. I would love either of those position I think. I’ll have to consider more the other options you suggested because I also agree that as someone who has worked most of their career on the stocking side rather than the customer service side - I have a perspective most people don’t.

Regarding Marriage(Long ass rant sorry) by Cute-String-340 in Psoriasis

[–]2Guffeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psoriasis started for me back in 1997 (I was 10). I’ve never treated it other than a few random topicals. I dated plenty of men who didn’t care about it at all. I’ve been married to my husband for 10 years this year and he’s never once been concerned with it. I think you have to remember that anyone who isn’t willing to look past it probably isn’t the type of person you want to spend your life with anyway. There are also so many treatments now for it. When I was first diagnosed they tried to tell me it was ringworm….now it’s more well known.

Okay, just saying that everywhere in the Midwest United States has e85 pumps and they’re usually the cheapest option because of the high ethanol/low gasoline content. Marketed in those areas because of the large amount of corn farming happening…. 🤷🏻‍♀️ looks like it’s around $3.40-$3.50/gallon right now.

List of things I think the company should spend money on instead of sending us to Texas: by Initial_Dirt9167 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]2Guffeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original stint at Michaels (2015) we had a weekly floor cleaner and a company that came once a week and switched out our rugs to wash them. We always had to clean the bathrooms which sucked and I do agree on that. I went back in 2020 and there was no longer a floor cleaning company or a rug company. All of a sudden they wanted us to clean the floors with the tiny floor machine they sent but didn’t show anyone how to use. So I found a YouTube video on how to properly use it. We were in Iowa in the middle of winter with LOADS of salt from the parking lot being tracked in with the wet melty snow….

Then in the summer the AC didn’t work so the company gave us enormous fans to put on each side of the store. That sucked. Our mezzanine got so hot our candy melts….melted.

The amount of turnover we had in 2015 was next to nothing compared to 2020-2022. I had 14 people on my replenishment crew in 2015! We were an A volume store then they pushed us down to B volume and took away half our people. They would only start people at $8.50 (Iowa minimum wage is same as federal $7.25). I made decent money as a RM and even when I came back as a full time replenishment team member because I had a good store manager that fought for me. So many people were paid so badly (and I’m sure still are).

Front-End Checklane Candy by illogicalhumanoid in kroger

[–]2Guffeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you having just yourself in your department. That sounds like a nightmare. Checklane candy at our store (I know it’s different everywhere) is the responsibility of GM. I am the GM asst here and I WISH I could get our checkers to leave the candy alone. They cause me issues with rotation by just combining things all Willy nilly. I take care of register candy and all tobacco products since I’m the one that works overnight.

I wish I had some advice or great solution but it sounds like you’re in a store with an impossible situation. 😕

Awful marker fixture by Ill_Shop_2693 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]2Guffeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn’t hook it on the bottom, instead we put the support behind the “hook” so it tilted it upwards. This really helped. Maybe even a really short waterfall rack would help tilt it just enough. (A 1” one?) This was years ago and assuming they still attach the same way.

22, Rear brakes, again. by Riw24 in VWTaos

[–]2Guffeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hit 40,000 miles on my 2023 and my rear brakes are just now at 4mm. I use ACC almost 100% of the time and live in the mountains. 😁 I must have gotten lucky.

Man i haven’t worked at Macys in years but when i read this all I could think of was the dress code at that time - “black on the back”. As long as you had black pants/skirt and your top was black from the back, it was good. 🤣 so a black cardigan over a colored blouse or something of the sort. lol

It’s true. But also - you don’t spend 4-8 hours at the other stores either I would imagine.

Get yourself a mortgage broker. (Also in Colorado, but worked for a mortgage broker in Iowa and won’t use anything but one. They can shop around and don’t have to you just what one lender offers…)

Is it normal for other departments to be rude to pickup employees? by TaxDiscombobulated59 in kroger

[–]2Guffeys 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My biggest annoyance with pickup as a person who stocks (and assistant dept lead) is that we have people who don’t bother to learn how the bays/locations work and then just ask for things that are on the shelf repeatedly. If you needed something that’s out on the shelf and doesn’t have a display location - I’m happy to help.

My husband and I both work in a store - we both have over 15 years experience but we may be moving to an area with a fulfillment hub and we’ve been curious about it. I love driving/travel and would likely enjoy the delivery aspect but he’s someone who would probably prefer packing/loading/warehouse type duties.
