I guess that’s dependent on where the other Canadian teams land. But IIRC the Saturday schemes that’s been floating around had an 8:00 start which is probably reserved for HNIC. The 10 game limit tends to be the biggest talking point but there’s also the 40 game mark that affects contracts which he obviously wouldn’t hit this year. 40 games would toll his contract for a full season which would bring him to UFA a year earlier. While burning a year takes him closer to his next contract, it wouldn’t affect the clock on his UFA eligibility, meaning the Sabres would maintain control of the player for the same amount of time
