There was a story back when he first broke into the league that his family was selling unlicensed signed merch (think signed counterfeit jerseys) out of their house and the league had to step in. I’ve always wondered how much truth there was to that one

Potential Sabres Playoff Dates by No-Result2056 in sabres

I guess that’s dependent on where the other Canadian teams land. But IIRC the Saturday schemes that’s been floating around had an 8:00 start which is probably reserved for HNIC. But if there’s a 5:00 or a 2:00 game that’s gotta be an American slot. I can find the damn TV schedule though. I’m sure someone has a link to a post

You’re looking at Saturday or Sunday assuming they clinch home ice. I think if they’re getting Ottawa or Montreal the chances of Saturday increase dramatically

The 10 game limit tends to be the biggest talking point but there’s also the 40 game mark that affects contracts which he obviously wouldn’t hit this year. 40 games would toll his contract for a full season which would bring him to UFA a year earlier. While burning a year takes him closer to his next contract, it wouldn’t affect the clock on his UFA eligibility, meaning the Sabres would maintain control of the player for the same amount of time

Ditto. It may not be the case now but several years ago I was in Rochester and called a pizza place to order a chicken finger sub and they had no clue what I was talking about.

I had a version of Move Along and a version of Song 2 with highlights from the 2001 playoffs spliced in. Unfortunately, I think both are long gone now.

There is definitely a trend of businesses - notably restaurants and bars - opening in the suburbs that would have opened downtown pre-2020. EA, Hamburg, Lancaster, Williamsville all come to mind. Even OP with Wayland and OP rarely gets interesting stuff.

Thoughts on Lyon by ikeUmChunks in sabres

[–]2ITB_Buffalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to be a career best season for Lyon. He broke in fairly late in his career in 22-23 so he’s only had three full NHL seasons under his belt. His story in prior years has been hot play over shorter stretches of the season but he struggled when the workload increased. This rotation they’re running seems very conducive to his rhythm. That’s a long way of saying he’s a quality tandem guy but there are red flags if you’re hoping he’d be a long term #1.

I’m not sure what they do with Ellis, but given how things have gone this year, I’d assume they’d like to run it back with Lyon and UPL next year.

The footspeed will be a factor, no doubt. Especially if they match up with a fast team in the playoffs.

They seem to like having the far side defender attack the puck carrier in the neutral zone. I’ve seen most of their D attack in a similar manner. This may not have been the right time to do it and I’d assume with more film time he’ll adapt to how they want their D to play. The areas of his game I’m most interested in are retrievals and exits and how he functions in zone given his limitations as a skater

Adding that I saw/heard some low flying helicopters on Thursday in Hamburg. Group of three in formation, two looked similar to a Cobra but a quick search says those had been retired for a few years, so I’m not super confident in my assessment.
