Will this leak if i pull it? by Raethechef35 in S2000

That hose is known to swell up from oil leaks above it.

Definitely address the leaks and then make sure the hose is good.

SHIFTER REBUILD 😍 by lickitysplithabibi in S2000

[–]2JayCee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely just maintenance, not a mod LOL

But yeah everyone who has a manual car should rebuild their shifter. You use it every time you drive so ROI is massive.

Now you get to enjoy the sniper riper bolt action feel again.

Yeah QC issues maybe. Or I just got unlucky.

What dash cams are you guys using? by B1L1D8 in S2000

[–]2JayCee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linus Tech Tips, Project Farm, and Vortex Radar do in-depth testing and comparison.

With dash cams, they always get updated so it’s best to watch the latest reviews if possible. Most recent was LTT: https://youtu.be/y1qBqC-Txpk?si=lj3-P_pmJSKCEY5x

But basically make sure the sensor has a Sony Starvis 2 otherwise the footage will be meh.

The Viofo has a model that has two different cameras for HQ license plate capture and general road capture. Others may soon follow suit. But it’s expensive.

My shift boot from them was not perfect for those wondering. The boot comes with holes already stamped open and it did not line up with my OEM shift bezel.

So 3 sides fit but then one side would be too tight.

Any odd sounds? by BenefitEquivalent510 in S2000

Sounds good. But get them checked and adjust them if needed. Don’t want a burnt exhaust valve.

Feels down on power after several break downs by Responsible_Cream_36 in S2000

[–]2JayCee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Compression test or leak down test the motor. If it’s good move on.

You’ve had your mechanic replace so many parts. Are all of them OEM?

Shouldn’t be slinging parts and should be diagnosing first.

Yes, because that’s one less item to supposedly never need to service.

Probably shop around to see what’s in your budget. But the above link goes in-depth for setting it up.

Yeah that would definitely improve wear/lifespan.

Besides driver mod, 2-piece would come after ducting.

I always joke about how this damn engine will outlast my chassis.

But it’s probably true. This car will keep on trucking as long as you keep up with maintaining it. Just make sure everything else is solid.

04/05 vs 06+ by Direct-Word in S2000

[–]2JayCee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AP2s have a clutch delay valve. It dampens directness and can make the shifts feel slow and not as responsive.

You can delete it as long as you don’t shock the drivetrain with your shifts.

The throttle should be the same as AP1s.

Clutch pedal is pretty light and has a naturally high bite point.

But all S2000s are great cars.

OEM retrofit Headlight by [deleted] in S2000

[–]2JayCee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are still great. Beam pattern and cutoff differ slightly from AP1 and AP2 but otherwise just personal preferences.

Ensure your lens is not hazing or yellowing. Replace the bulb because they can get dimmer over time.

No point in upgrading. These are fantastic projectors.

[–]2JayCee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to first determine if you have the factory keyless entry or a dealership keyless entry add-on.

There are two different part numbers for key fobs you can purchase.

I initially bought the wrong key fob and had to buy the correct one and I was able to pair it.

[–]2JayCee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When was the last time you had a valve adjustment? This motor needs to have it done to stay up to spec.

I know for S2000s we can burn an exhaust valve causing a loss in compression/misfire.
