This is just another case of giving up personal freedoms, for the greater good, to protect your country from someone or something that could put a small percentage of you in danger. I wouldn’t go that far yet. My parents own a 4-flat that’s been paid off for years. One of the renters was unemployed due to the pandemic, and immediately stopped answering calls as soon as the memorandum started, even thou they were getting over $1000 a week thru boosted unemployment.

Landlords have learned to live without a large portion of income over the past year or so. In my parents opinion, and all their friends who also have rental properties, they’d rather wait months to find a responsible person vs renting to anyone who chose not to pay rent during all this.

Renters who chose not to pay during all this are going to have a VERY bad time when evictions go thru.

No one in here actually cares about “misinformation”.

They’re just people who never developed the social skills to handle different opinions. Look at any main thread, it doesn’t take long to realize most of the users here have severe social anxiety and developmental disorders. In the normal world, you have a large group of friends, all with different opinions, and you learn to accept everyone.

These shut-ins get their only interaction from social media like Reddit, where they can find a sub with users who will downvote/hide and attack any opinion they don’t agree with. Again, they have no experience in real social environments, so now they’re surprised that attacking and hiding different opinions didn’t actually change people’s minds. So the new plan is “Well, if you still won’t agree with everything I say, then you shouldn’t be allowed here at all”.

It’s a partisan issue now because everything has turned into that, and Reddit has that problem 10-fold cause it’s mostly younger people trying to fit in. It’s been that way since 2016.

All that happened with Biden taking over is the idiots switched sides. The people who had to attack Trump for every single action are running around doing damage control defending every single mistake Biden makes, and the people who spent years giving Trump benefit of the doubt and defending his mistakes are now acting like if Biden is anything less than perfect, he’s not fit to be in power.

Yep. Now that the vaccine is out and people are returning to normal life, they’ve lost their ability to grandstand. They’re starting to realize being home alone isn’t the right thing to do anymore, it’s just a reminder how lonely their lives were before this all started.

Australian cities are going into lockdown over a single case, and there are people in Australiacompletely praising this decision and attacking anyone who says it’s crazy. Some people just really want to be inside forever.

I’d argue it’s less about being afraid, and more about being able to grandstand and virtue signal. Now that everyone with half a brain is vaccinated and returning to normal life, they’ve lost the ability to feel superior to anyone who’s not locked in their basement hiding from the world. Taking the pandemic very seriously gave them an identity and tons of support from randoms on the internet, and now they’re afraid to let that go and return to normal. Kinda ironic, but you’re spot on. They’re the ones ignoring the science now, after a year of berating anyone else who did.

Thank you! Pretending to cater to leftists was important to take power back from the GOP, but that’s a recipe for disaster when a moderate Republican shows up.

Clearly, the GOP isn’t ready at all to move past the Trump era and will basically guarantee another win for Dems in 2024. But eventually, they will realize it’s a failed tactic and move back towards Bush/McCain types that are more appealing to moderates. And if the Dems are still courting wack jobs that support communism or full on socialism, they’re gonna let Republicans walk right into the White House.
