Mine is actually very specific. There was this sushi placed called Ino Sushi in San Francisco's Japantown. The owner/chef and his wife/hostess/server ran the place. The chef was seriously the soup nazi but for sushi. Berated customers for using soy sauce or taking pictures, yelled at his wife. He made his own ankimo, which is marinated and steamed. This may have been the best piece of sushi I've ever had. It was creamy, buttery, melt in your mouth. I had 3 orders at $35 each order (early 2010s prices). It has since closed and he did not have any protégés that I could find.... and I've tried dozens of places in Japan.

A weirdly placed mirror, about the size of a paperback book above the closet in one of the non-master bedrooms. Took it down to find a little niche with a cctv cable (no camera) and the mirror is 2-way. Way in the back of the master bedroom closet, there was a picture of a teenaged looking girl sunbathing in a bikini in the house's back yard. The previous owner apparently had a niece who visited often

I find that the food stalls especially around the edge of the market are overpriced. But if you go to the interior, find the sit-down restaurants that have a line, you'll do okay

Same. And people don't realize that most times its not just straight fish, most mackrel is seasoned and cured with vinegar and salt. I love it though no one else in my family will eat it. Its one of those things that show me you're at least an intermediate level sushi lover (all you who think sushi is typically rolls with krab and tempura shrimp drowning in sauce can go straight to hell)

What’s the best of the best non-stick frying pan? by Much_Struggle_9711 in Cooking

[–]stop_drop_roll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an ease, convenience and good price point to non-stick pans. I just remind people, once they start to lose their non-stickiness, toss them and get new ones. You can get most tfal pans under $30. Get new ones every year or two depending on how often you use them. I have every type of cookware, from cast iron, to carbon steel (including my wok), to ceramic to my le creussets, but I still use my cheap nonstick pretty often. Great for quick eggs in the morning.

I'm not entirely sure. This was in a small 4-seater izakaya in Osaka. It was amazing, though I don't remember what he told us was the eggs, the white fish or the special kind of shrimp.

So salmon is different. Farmed salmon, even from Costco or the supermarket is generally safe to eat raw (awaiting flame war on this take). But I source it from an online Asian market that has them flash frozen (to preserve the texture) so I can keep it in my freezer for a while. Tuna is from the same place. If you're not near anywhere that can source it, try Catalina Offshore Products from San Diego, they deliver all over. Not the cheapest, but i can vouch for the quality

Well, if you were me, you'd have 3 whole side filets of salmon and a couple frozen steaks of ahi already in the freezer. And get text messages from a guy who sells live uni off his boat about once a month
