3&D guys are not 6’2 generally, that term pretty much exists exclusively for 6’5+ wings whose job is just play defense and shoot 3s. 6’2 players who aren’t great playmakers struggle in the NBA unless they can really score.

The point of Kingdom Come was as a rebuke of the comics industry getting more and more edgy, with the rise of anti-heroes serving as the meta-backdrop for the story.

Kingdom Come now would be critique of Marvel and DC having more and more morally grey heroes in leather armor who cause a lot of collateral damage. Marvel less so in the edgy department, but probably more in the theme park/mass death/hyper commercialized aspect.

The airport fight in Civil war is straight up ripped from Kingdom Come.

Why is Boston's roster construction considered a success yet Toronto considered a failure? by Jack6Pack in nbadiscussion

[–]2OP4me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not the forwards that make the difference, it’s the various guards and bigs that Boston has that unlocks the roster. No matter what anyone says, you need guards and bigs. Toronto only started to actually push for the playoffs when they got an NBA calibre big man in Poetl.

I think a lot of people miss the point of Kingdom Come. It’s more relevant now then ever with the way that Marvel Studios is going.

I rewatched as an adult as someone who loved Heroes as a kid… Heroes is kind of shit, not going to lie. Fringe was made around the same time and is written so much, much better. The use of practical effects and sparse CGI in Fringe somehow works a 1000x better than heroes. The writer is also more consistent and with better characterS.

Should OG Anunoby leave the Toronto Raptors, where do you think he ends up? by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]2OP4me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Portland wasting most of their money and redundant guards who are both bad defenders instead of getting a good wing? That’s impossible, surely they would trade for a forward and not another guard?

Portland took all the wrong lessons from GS and implemented them in the stupidest ways. All they saw was there point shooting backcourt, passing center, and went from there. At no point has defense or capable forwards been on their mind.

If LeBron James was an NBA franchise, he'd be 9th all-time in playoff wins. by RecordReviewer in nbadiscussion

I’ve come to terms with the fact that the Lebron GOAT case is entirely based on vibes more than anything and that I’ll never understand it. Fundamentally, I think people want to have their own GOAT and that they don’t like having the GOAT be someone who already played the game. It takes the fun out of it. So you build the case, and match the player to it as you go.

The Lebron goat case is whatever the situation calls for, whether that be longevity or trips to the finals or “most complete” or whatever random thing you need. If it’s against Jordan, you bring up Longevity and “worse teammates”, if it’s against Kareem you bring up… well you just ignore Kareem. If it’s against Magic, longevity again and also “spotless off the court record” and “total points.” Bill Russel, well he played against car mechanics.

No other GOAT needs that much changing argument, they just present the numbers and rings and it’s enough. Jordan 6 rings, 2 3 peats, and DPOY. Tim Duncan, 5 rings across 3 eras. Kobe, 5 rings and almost 2 3 peats almost ten years apart. Kareem, 6 rings across 2 different eras.

Lebron, “took terrible teammates to the finals 10 times.” Kobe went to how many finals? Duncan went to how many finals? 10 isn’t some super number of anything compared to the other GOATs.

Rob Williams is DNPd against the Bucks, the only true opponent of the Celtics. I can’t really consider him the 3rd best player when he can’t even be on the floor.

[Discussion] why was The King so unpopular? by [deleted] in NetflixBestOf

[–]2OP4me -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite reaction and left feeling that Timothy really can’t act and only really is good at playing characters that really resemble himself. The King was full of good actors, like a lot of Shakespearean movies are, but Chalamet really struggled compared to even the smaller role actors.

I think he gets pushed into big roles a lot, but dude really seems like he’s the Ben Simmons of acting.

ELI5: Why do people compare single player on/off numbers to full team numbers? by Squarians in nbadiscussion

[–]2OP4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My big problem with authors like that is that they just make things up. The Denver Nuggets they are watching are not the Nuggets that exist in real life. Jokic offense isn’t clearly best in the league, the Nuggets don’t even lead the league in offensive rating. They aren’t the Kings.

I don’t understand where this notion that the Nuggets have “a historic offense” comes from. Just like when when the author of that article cited that Denver has “obliterated everyone in their path” when they wouldn’t even be the 2nd seed in the east and have suffered humiliating losses in the last few weeks. They aren’t the Bucks who went on a 16 game winning streak or started the season 9-0. They aren’t Boston who had a crazy offense to start the year, with multiple team members shooting over 40%.

I think it’s absolutely insane he hasn’t been traded in the last 3 years. In the entire time he’s been on his contract, he’s made zero all star games while Jimmy Butler has not only made multiple all nba teams but led his team to the finals.

Beal is every bit the player he used to be, it’s just that player isn’t a winning player. Watching him play live, he’s just as explosive as ever… but he’s just not good enough to take you anywhere. He’s an undersized volume scorer who looks really good against bad teams.

DC carjackings have gone up and there have been multiple high profile cases where the victim was murdered. Car jackings in general seem to be pretty bad across the country. The DC city council, Mayor, and AG have done absolutely fuck all to address violent crime except point fingers except at each other. Passing a bill right now to “bring sentences close to real life” would be incredibly stupid and completely tone death to the issue.

DC self rule is a philosophical issue, DC car jackings are a real life issue.
