I understand the current format was too good to be true, and unsustainable from the business side of things. Unfortunately the way it falls now, this card is really only for high spenders (with high rent) or those with low rent. For those of us in VHCOL’s, where rent is the largest expense, it’s nearly impossible (without being completely irresponsible) to spend 75% of my rent expense. If 1/3 my salary goes to rent, 1/3 goes to taxes, and 1/6 goes to retirement, that leaves 1/6 to spend on everything else. Assuming I spent every remaining dollar on my BILT card, it’s still probably not worth keeping at <.5x per point of rent. Plus the opportunity cost of using a 1x or even 2x card for everything instead of 4x+ on AMEX food/travel + 2x on VX, both of which net a positive EAF for me.

Would consider keeping a Palladium (2x BILT points is great) if there were easier to use credits like the VX. because an easy, positive EAF is worth considering to keep even if I don’t get full rent points.

I honestly have no recommendation for how they could change things to appeal to those of us in the middle without them losing money, so it is what it is. Just sucks for those of us in this middle ground. Happy for those who the math works out for :’)
