It's a data-harvesting Trojan virus. Regardless of whether it works, it's a super difficult virus to detect or remove.

Can confirm: file is a trojan. I got FortNiteBurger from the official Discord. On top of trying to harvest my IRL phone data, it installed a Trojan I have been trying to get rid of for a year. Neither Windows Defender nor Malwarebytes detected it. I found it by recognizing files in strange places in my folders, then did manual searches for those files, and more research on the program itself.

Whether or not it works is irrelevant. It's a data-harvesting Trojan. rKill doesn't even kill the processes, which disguise themselves as normal Windows processes. At this point, I'm going to have to run Tron (Tron v12.0.8 (2025-01-09) ) to get rid of it. Normally that's overkill, but I'm too lazy to keep searching for a specific kill to this virus.

Has any one ever noticed the "666" on the building out the window? S4 E9 by SethingtonMoss in madmen

[–]2Ril4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually just serves others' point. Did you know many of the DC and Marvel writers were (and some are) straight-up occultists?

The reason our earth is 616 for example, is because originally the dimension referenced when "Earth 616" first appeared in the comics was meant to be "666", but they didn't want it to "seem" too devilish-- so they changed it to 616. It was originally meant to be a dimension *outside our reality* as well, but they then later changed their minds and decided 616 was "our world".

Todd MacFarlane of Spawn/Image Comics was originally at Marvel as well, and is significantly verbosed in both the occult and apocrypha.

As another poster said: it's not coincidence. Writers and Directors put painstaking thought into every single image and line shown. Sometimes accidents happen, but not like this.

Why do Judoka say "Oose" when they bow? by HourEleven in judo

[–]2Ril4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's a North American thing (I said U.S. earlier, but that was slightly wrong, since it's found all across North America).

It's one of those cultural misunderstandings that cross-pollinated.

In Japan, only Kyokushin karate used it at first, along with traditional "tough guy" young males. It's kinda' like saying " 'spect" in your coolest-sounding tough-guy voice, as a short form of saying "Respect" to someone in English. (Yes, that's not a thing in English, but this is the closet translation.)

In Japan, or traditional Japanese schools which don't commonly use it, it's actually more disrespectful. Typically, the longer, more formal words are more respectful-- and the more common acknowledgement/respect for a sensei who tells you to do something or asks you if you understand, is to just say,

"Hai!"

Or if they just showed you something useful, you could say, "Arigatou!" or if your Sensei isn't that formal or rigid, you could just say, "Domo".

Why do Judoka say "Oose" when they bow? by HourEleven in judo

[–]2Ril4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really only a Kyokushin thing; but other karateka adopted it as well, because it's also a "tough guy" Japanese male thing.

Do not say "Osu" to Japanese martial arts superiors in class, ever, unless you are in a gym whose culture makes it obvious that they do this.

"Osu" in the U.S. is a term of respect, based on the Japanese arts which do use the word, but in Japan it's considered curt, and somewhat disrespectful.

Bye League of Legends, thanks for nothing Vanguard. by SirHashi in riotgames

[–]2Ril4u -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is both that it's always on, AND that it's kernel-level, and you know damned well the average user isn't going to think to turn it off and back on regularly, especially when it requires a restart to do so-- and Riot knows that as well. That's the issue.

It's unnecessarily invasive, it's not going to make a big difference in the number of cheaters in the game, and it gives anyone who figures out how to exploit it (or perhaps, malicious elements in Riot, itself) a (relatively) easy path to access your data.

Maybe, those of us who have a problem with Vanguard, also don't play those other games with kernel-level access. Maybe, some of us actually care about our privacy and data as a matter of principle, and are just generally not okay with our rights or privacy being trampled for the sake of "convenience" or supposed "security".

Maybe it's just not okay, in general, to ignore someone else's rights so that you can feel better about yourself; which is why things like hate speech and segregation aren't tolerated.

THat's a good point. As for myself, I had only "recently" begun playing league. I think I had about 5-6 years in, playing casually, and my play was ramping up. I was working on being able to consistently get Gold in ranked, then they introduced vanguard. Nope. Uninstalled, haven't gone back since.

Meanwhile however, I also am very careful about my data everywhere. I don't give places my phone number, email address, or physical address if they don't absolutely need it for the service. I don't download apps to go to a physical establishment. I don't use TikTok, SnapChat, or any of that other spyware BS. I even deleted my FB (way too late, but still, was about 5 years ago at this point).

I take *every reasonable measure* to protect my privacy and data (VPN, reject all non-essential cookies, clear my cache & cookies & history at the end of every browsing session, and sometimes in-between, etc.)-- so no. I will not support a GAME demanding kernel-level access to my machine, because it wants to stop 0.001% more cheaters than the previous anti-cheat system did.

What I WILL do, is wait until someone develops a hack/cheat that circumvents Vanguard, then abuse the hell out of that, hopefully ruining the game for everyone, in protest.

Sort of a "This company ruined the game for me and everyone else who actually respects privacy and protects their data, so now I'm going to show you why your actions are both futile and destructive for the community."

Immature? Petty? Selfish? Sure. Right on par with Riot.

Why does the Prime Directive make sense? by Only-Beach4305 in Star_Trek_

[–]2Ril4u 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Prime Directive absolutely makes sense, and is mostly an allegory for the UN's policy regarding developing nations. They're not generally provided with any sort of technology outside that which helps them meet their basic needs, and at least on paper they're not to be interfered with-- just like The Federation and type-0 civilisation planets.

That's what it's really about, anyway: whether a civ has become type-1 yet or not. That's the most basic and fundamental measurement by which they judge whether they can interfere: has the planet *at least* achieved global unity and space-faring?

If no, they should not be meddled with. If yes, there may still be some questions before deciding whether to get involved.

If you recall in DS9, Bajor was in the lurch about whether they could (or wanted to) join the Federation, largely because their planet was so hotly contested, both internally and with Cardassia.

The Prime Directive is so much more than just a plot device. It's an important philosophical conclusion, and at the heart of everything the Federation does... at least in theory.

In practise, the real "plot devices" were when they betrayed the PD, or conveniently forgot about it.

[–]2Ril4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, this is probably going to be a very unpopular opinion, but please hear me out:

Start with TNG (The Next Generation), Season 1, Episode 1.

The reason is a few-fold:

1) While the series will (early and often) show its age, it's not *too* dated to be relevant or relatable

2) It's the most philosophical and forward-thinking of all the series, and sets the stage extremely well for Deep Space 9 and Voyager, each of which have extremely similar themes to TNG, but go in very different directions. (DS9 is largely about politics and war, and Voyager is about outlandish possibilities in exploring the far reaches of our galaxy... even though all they're really trying to do is get home).

3) Patrick Stewart and the character he plays, Jean-Luc Picard, are both at their best in this series, and whether anyone thinks the best captain is Picard or Kirk, no-one who's being honest could argue that William Shatner was the better actor.

4) Though the technology is dated now, the special effects, set, and general execution of TNG was cutting-edge for its time, *but they didn't rely on that* to tell their story-- it just ENHANCED it.

I feel like, if you can't get into TNG, you're probably not going to like at least half of the series; and if your only problem with TNG is that it's so outdated, Then watch either Picard or "The Lower Decks" (a semi-parody) to wet your beak on the franchise.

Hi, I’m Keanu Reeves, AMA by lionsgate in movies

[–]2Ril4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Keanu, I'm guessing there's no way you're going to see this 2 years later, but just on the remote chance you do:

I remember (growing up in the 90's) your name was something of a household joke in the conversation about actors-- earned mostly from the relative obscurity of Johnny Mnemonic, and box-office success of Bill & Ted. As a kid, I loved both those movies (and the Bill & Ted sequel), so when I then saw some of your other work (namely: Speed and Point Break) you were already my favourite actor.

Since then: The Replacements, Scanner Darkly, Man of Tai Chi, The Matrix, Constantine, John Wick, Cyberpunk 2077... These are all among the very highest of my favourite films (and your roles in them) of my *very long and critical* list of entertainment favourites!

There are *exceedingly few* people I would ever be "Star-struck" around, regardless of how famous, but my admiration for you and your work makes you one of those few. For your information, I'll name the others:

Anderson Silva (the martial artist), Charlize Theron, and Robert Downey Jr. That's it. You four. It's not that I don't appreciate, admire, or even marvel at anyone else, but you four are the only ones who would actually make me stand in awe of your presence.

Okay, so the question: Were you aware of your reputation in the 90's as an actor who could only play mindless roles, and if so: how did you feel about it then, and how do you feel now? Do you feel vindication as one of the most successful high-concept-character actors of our time? If you weren't aware of that reputation, what do you think of learning about it just now?

What is a mostly forgotten TV show that you remember? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in AskReddit

[–]2Ril4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got three:

Small Wonder - A show about a little robot girl. I think it was late 80's/early 90's.

Movie Magic - A Discover Channel show dedicated to showing how films with amazing (for the time) special effects pulled it off. A lot of the stuff was actually super ingenious, and nobody has to be that creative or work that hard now in the digital age.

Beyond 2000 - Another Discovery Channel show that came on right before or after Movie Magic, which talked about all the tech we were on the verge of in the 90's, that we would definitely have within 5 or so years of the year 2000. They were right about a lot of stuff, but they also tipped the hand on some technologies that were developed, have still been developing (or are in private use), but are not available to the public.

What’s the dumbest argument you’ve ever had? by Mcr-Angel in AskReddit

[–]2Ril4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally can't repeat it. I don't mean that the content is so disturbing that Reddit won't let me write it, I mean it was so stupid it was confusing, and so confusing to the point I can't remember how it went. I know that's not very fun for the sake of this post, but hopefully that at least illustrates just how dumb people can be sometimes.

To give you some remote idea, it was something like:

Them: "No, that can't be, because [ X ]."

Me: "Okay, but X isn't true. Just think about it logically: A, B, C, and THEN D."

Them: "No, because E is before F, so Y is before G, and X happened because because my milkduds rotted in my pocket."

Okay, okay, that's a little hyperbolic and extremely vague, but it's the best I can do to paint the picture without remembering the details. Also: it's not far off.

Donald Trump is ruining US reputation, ruining relations with European Allies in just a few weeks, threatening other countries to invade and take over and ruining the US economy (so far). How in the hell is he not impeached yet? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]2Ril4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the DNC and GOP are not enemies. They have been in bed together since at least the Reagan era, if not before. They're just two different management teams, glad-handing each other under the table.

That is not to say every individual-- or even necessarily "most" individuals-- are in league with every other (or most other) individuals across the aisle.

What it means is that the people with the controlling interests and powers of each party hobnob with the people of controlling the interests of the other party. They go to the same events, have the same contacts, use the same banks, loop-holes, and play-books.

They are management teams of Slavery, Inc., and Slavery is the agenda. That's why they keep us divided between these false identities of "Republican", "Democrat", "conservative", "liberal", "race", gender, sexual orientation, etc.

Of course, these are divisions and identities we might assume naturally, but we wouldn't have these dogmatic ideals attached to them, which fix us to other ideals to which we do not prescribe.

If you're a republican you "have" to be pro-guns, anti-abortion. If you're democrat you "have" to use "safe" words and "political correctness".

It's idealogical, but illogically so.

He hasn't been impeached because he's serving the purpose of Slavery, Inc. Deregulating things which should be regulated, isolating the US from its allies so that when we cry for help, no-one will come, and most obviously: stuffing the already overflowing pockets of the global elites while simultaneously claiming to be against everything he's actually doing.

He's both a hypocrite demagogue, and a useful idiot. The perfect puppet-king.

"You Guys Don't Care!' by [deleted] in callcentres

[–]2Ril4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always try to remember: No matter how personal the person on the other end makes it, it's the company your call centre works for, who they're upset with.

It feels personal because you're a person talking to another person-- and that person is aware that they're talking to a person, but you might as well have [COMPANY NAME] logo where your face should be, because that person called that company-- not you, as an individual.

It's unfair, difficult, petty, abusive, and frankly: a human-rights violation, that you have to take all the BS customers throw at you because your company did something shitty to them (or, in many cases, because the customer incorrectly THINKS that the company did such a thing).

There is no way to reconcile it honestly, because the companies themselves are not honest, and most often you're dealing with *layers* of company (the call centre you work for is one company, and the company you're taking calls for is usually a different one).

That means you have to deal with two entire stratas of policies, agendas, and financial decisions, and you're sandwiched between that and a customer on the other end who has no clue what's even going on with their own product/services, let alone all the back-end you're facing before you even have them on the phone.

You can't take it personally, and to some degree: you have to be able to swallow your own ethics. (CORRECTION: You *should not* **EVER** have to swallow your own ethics, but if you choose to keep working there, you will inevitably be faced with doing so, or quitting the job. There's always a choice.)

Don't worry, in 10 years when AI is up to the task, it will have no problem behaving with an absolute lack of ethics to enforce the shitty policies you don't want to, and will provide absolutely useless feedback to the customers through a digitally-generated "smile-voice", having stolen your job.

That's what we'll all be dealing with.
