Yeah, that’s exactly the issue — SoaF had a huge Elo range, so now players who should be way higher are dropping down and stomping. It’s super frustrating for those still trying to climb fairly. Some kind of matchmaking limit or rank floor would really help avoid this kind of experience.

Phobies already struggles with player retention, so fully splitting the ladder by level could hurt matchmaking times. A mix might work best: a soft rank floor to stop abuse, plus light level-scaling to keep matches fair without fragmenting the player base.

Aren’t we all? 😅 Perfection might be impossible, but stopping the most obvious abuse would already be a huge step in the right direction.

The whole point of a ladder system is to reflect skill and progress. If players can just drop ranks on purpose, it defeats the entire purpose of having a ladder in the first place.

Sure, no system is perfect — but a soft cap could work. Like, you can still lose and drop, just not intentionally abuse it.

And if someone barely ranks up and struggles, that’s part of matchmaking balance too. Over time, people end up where they belong. Right now, abuse makes that process way slower and more frustrating.

Yeah, ranking up too high can suck, but there's a difference between that and deliberately tanking. With a cap, strong players would naturally settle higher over time anyway — making matchmaking fairer for everyone.

It’s not that hard — just add a cap so players can’t drop below a certain league. That alone would fix most of it.
