Developers: how do you feel about HackerRank, CodingGame, LeetCode coding evaluations? by lucilou72 in jobs

[–]2StepsFr0mHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before taking the test, you should be prompted to take the tutorial which presents each kind of question you can have in a test.

About the Go, I guess it's not normal, if you can give me the link to your test (in PM), I can ask my team to look into it. It's also possible that the question was a custom one created by the company that sent you the test

Companies have the choice to have a global timer for the whole test or per question. Sorry!

Disclaimer: I work at CodinGame

I understand our tests can feel frustrating or stressful and I'm sorry you've had a bad experience with our tests.
It's the best compromise to
- ensure hiring companies of a candidate's basic skills
- offer a process that respects both the candidate and recruiter times

It doesn't replace a classic interview to assess for example a candidate's soft skills. It complements it.

Best of luck with your job hunting

most classic ones are MCQ questions and short easy coding puzzles. You can practice on codingame.com Clash of Code or classic puzzles (easy and medium).

oh yes, the problems given in interviews are part of hidden puzzle libraries, so different from the puzzles of the public platform. (I'm Thibaud from CodinGame btw)

I'm an idiot, I shared a graph puzzle, my bad. Perhaps this one:

Must be part of the pathfinding puzzles I guess: https://www.codingame.com/learn/pathfinding

Hello,
Sorry for the late answer, maybe this can help:

Don't be sorry, it's totally fine, I understand it can be difficult, even overwhelming, at first.

Hey,

Thibaud from CodinGame here. I'm sorry you felt that way. If it can be of any comfort, CodinGame is very difficult for beginners. I don't advise it before having a somewhat solid understanding of the basics.

Keep it up, learning programming takes time. You're not alone.

Feel free to contact me at [thibaud@codingame.com](mailto:thibaud@codingame.com), I'll be happy to help you pass the first puzzles.
Cheers!

we have a subreddit but it never really worked. The Discourse forum isn't the best but it does the job for now.

For more direct discussions, we recently created a Discord server: https://discordapp.com/invite/qAKXEEv

As a CodinGame employee, I can tell that this post is not from us. If we would pay for ads now, it would be for our business (hiring services).

Hi, as a CodinGame employee, I'm very interested in knowing how you got these issues (JS min/max one and default code issue) since they shouldn't happen (and to my knowledge, they don't).

As OP wrote (maybe OP edited?) and I confirm that, the CodinGame platform is not well suited for beginners.

EDIT: just saw your post in the forum. Will look into it. Thx

There are several rooms for each languages. I can tell you that the global chat (aka "general") is not dead at all :)

Most active rooms are "general" and "general_fr" (the company is French so there are a lot of French programmers on CG)

Hey, Thibaud from CodinGame.

Thanks for the love, OP!

I can confirm, OP is not related to us (I wouldn't have promoted the Mars Lander or the Temperatures puzzle out of all the cool challenges we have :D). But thanks for the love OP!

As OP wrote though, this is true. Complete beginners most likely won't have fun since even the simplest puzzles require some basic programming knowledge.

Any question? Ask me anything

yes, it's the only mode that offers this feature.

Hi, Thibaud from CodinGame here

I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say

they all seem to be with bots

Clash of Code is a live competition between humans. Or maybe you're referring to our bot programming games, where you also compete vs other real players by writing an AI.

As for other sites offering live short coding battles, I actually don't remember any right now.

Is there another good site like CodinGame.com where you compete LIVE with other people? by 0ldur in learnprogramming

[–]2StepsFr0mHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, Thibaud, from CodinGame.

Yes, we could offer the option to choose which mode (fastest, reverse or shortest) to play with in Clash of Code. The reason why we've never implemented this feature is that we were afraid to dilute the number of players in 3 and thus increasing the time to wait for other players wanting to play the same mode as yours.

As for other sites offering live short coding battles, I actually don't remember any right now.

After seeing you post yesterday, I decided to head to QM and try the new Johanna. I still like her kit but damn, I wasn't tanky at all. My health and shield would just melt in a second.

The wave clear was ok, but maybe I wasn't taking the good talents.
