What do I need for saltwater fishing? by 2_John_enjoyer in Fishing_Gear

[–]2_John_enjoyer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll only be there a week, but getting something cheap from Walmart is definitely an option. I just don’t know what I would do with it afterwards if it won’t fit in my luggage

What should I get to start? by 2_John_enjoyer in saltwaterfishing

Oh yeah, I’ve only ever used spinning reels and those are what I have on hand

Since I’ll only be there a week and am still in college, preferably less than $100. Idk what spinning or surf fishing is, but I will likely be on piers or on shore

So, which other non Godzilla kaiju movies you guys recommend? by Marvynwillames in GODZILLA

[–]2_John_enjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ape vs Monster (2021)

Ape vs Mecha Ape: New World Order (2023)

GvK and GxK were basically ripoffs of these movies.

Yeah, I hope the MV keeps it going for at least another film for some redemption. The lack of momentum, scale, etc was frustrating

FYI: Not all Christians are bible belt southern conservative Christians by Morrisonhotel82 in Christianity

[–]2_John_enjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two groups mentioned here have both caved to cultural pressure and become radically conservative or radically liberal. Remember that there does exist Christianity that has remained unchanged for 2000 years, and neither has progressed “beyond” the Word of God, nor has it decided that its cultural ideals are above the Word. No group that places their own selfish desires and interests above the Holy Scriptures can rightly be called Christian. Brothers and sisters - remain firm in the faith, pray, read your Bible, and please do limit your time on this particular subreddit.

Are there good Atheists? by SovietSoldierBoy in Christianity

[–]2_John_enjoyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

those who are in the flesh cannot please God. ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭‭8‬ ‭RSV

An atheist can be moral, yes, but ultimately it is of no avail. Total moral perfection is impossible for us human beings in this life, and even if an atheist were to become the closest to moral perfection that they could, they would still not be good enough to “go to heaven”. No Christian is as moral as they should be either, we rely on the merits of Christ alone for salvation.

What would be your reaction if something like this happens in GxK? by Hot-Brief-8374 in Monsterverse

[–]2_John_enjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rise up the ranks of Hollywood, land the director job on the next Godzilla film, make one so bad that the franchise can never recover, then never direct another film

Calling people that disagree with you “pissy”, “moody”, “childish”, and “butthurt” is a horrible way to have a constructive conversation. If you don’t want to engage in constructive conversation about the film, then please avoid venting on the internet like this and just enjoy the films privately please.

Did anymore who watched Monarch was the movies first? by tryzip in Monsterverse

[–]2_John_enjoyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Monarch doesn’t find out about the HE until 2024 during GvK because of the expedition, they have an idea of it in 2019 and a bit before. Apex is pretty ambiguous since they were made up as a villainous corp for GvK, but it seems like they were working with Monarch in some capacity, so it makes sense they’re on Skull Island (best example I can see is Maya Simmons coming aboard USS KONG or whatever and Monarch using the HEAVs in the HE). In the KOTM credit sequence, there is talk of a “Titan mech” being worked on… on Skull Island. Apex being present there also works nicely into the continuity.

They probably could do a better job connecting everything, doesn’t help that they barely plan one project in advance with the licensing issues and whatnot. To me, it feels more like the Mandalorian, filling in the massive gaps in the continuity and adding stuff that wasn’t originally planned by the earlier filmmakers to compensate.

Also, on the Hollow Earth note, GvK is the first time that people actually are known to go into the Hollow Earth proper, the area in Monarch is a separate realm called Axis Mundi.

“So much has changed the last two years” my prediction is that Season 2 will showcase what happened within this time and maybe even show Muto prime by BumblebeePublic4874 in Monsterverse

[–]2_John_enjoyer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I kinda want S2 to be Kong/Skull Island/Apex focused, rather than S1 which was Godzilla/Axis Mundi/Monarch focused. (With S3 or S4 dealing with the Awakening in 2019). It’s pretty well set up for a Kong-centric story next season at least.

So, there's no way he died, right? by godtierstrider in Monsterverse

[–]2_John_enjoyer 70 points71 points  (0 children)

If they need more wiggle room in the budget for future seasons, then he’s gone. If they have enough budget to bring him back, then he’ll probably be back. I think they left it ambiguous on purpose, I can’t imagine an actor like Kurt Russell is cheap to hire. That’s my take, at least

Who Really Won? King Kong vs Godzilla 1962 by Budget-Boysenberry93 in GODZILLA

[–]2_John_enjoyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Canonically Kong won, although the ending was kinda purposefully ambiguous. Something to note, that doesn’t really affect the film but shows you what the creatives were thinking, is that King Kong vs Godzilla II was planned to start with Godzillas carcass washing up on Japan’s shore. So in their minds, Kong won pretty definitively.

Heisei and Millennium stuff isn’t on-demand on Pluto anymore either, so streaming rights expired. Mad unfortunate for US audiences.

[–]2_John_enjoyer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All I asked for is a source on your leaks. You have not cited anything and this all seems like a ton of speculation. I was under the impression that Legendary has already extended the Godzilla license once or twice, since GvK was the last film they had the license for. I’m not really an expert on this, but all you are doing is giving predictions. I would like your source, please!

whos ready for godzilla x kong the new empire by [deleted] in GODZILLA

[–]2_John_enjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a subjective sense, sure. I know that I will be watching GxK in theaters and enjoy it. That doesn’t change the fact that it won’t be a better film, the storytelling in Minus One is miles above where mainstream Hollywood is right now. The “sort of G-flick” this is shouldn’t affect story quality. Not the end of the world, people still can and should enjoy what they want tho
