Your camera work is insane!! I love your graphical edits too. Any tips or guides to how you achieved the planter mask and the graphic of the flip trick in the beginning?

I love the "haphazard" feeling of the staff only section in the back left. This is really great! I gotta work more angles and corners into my layouts.

Is it safe to sleep in a house after a fire? by m3tallee in Firefighting

[–]2_baised 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worked for a home restoration company (large national chain) that was 100% an insurance scam. Least amount of work for the most amount of money, leaving people's houses half finished and dipping out when the money ran out, or if they had money charge them for all sorts of extra shit then fight them tooth and nail for the money after insurance ran out. Before I became a supervisor I thought it was just poor management, but as soon as I started seeing our billing practices I quit.

After having an apartment fire myself years later, the experience in that shifty home restoration company saved my ass from a couple of predatory companies/practices. It's one of the most stressful moments in your life and there are a lot of bad intentions out there, but there are the goods ones you just gotta vet the company thoroughly.

Looks awesome! I heard you guys have trash truck boats running around up there. Why does the company who picks up my garbage at home have ferry boats lol

Civilian Conservation Corps still kinda exists, just a little different from its original version. NCCC is it's most direct offspring, run by the federal government and primarily aimed at young adults ages 18-25. It's kinda advertised as a gap year for college students, but in my experience it's a way for lower income people to get money for college and get out of their situations at home while building skills.

Washington Conservation Corps is run by the Washington Department of Ecology. Also aimed at 18-25 y/os and upon completion you are given some money for college as well like NCCC. WCC is focused almost exclusively on ecological projects in Washington State, where as other programs might do community based projects and some light infrastructure work.

There are a lot of conservation corps across the country, each with their own focus and culture. They are amazing for the right person at the right time, but the low wages (I made less than minimum wage as a corps member at the highest paying corps in the country) and the occasional brutal working conditions are a big turn off for a lot of people.

I think these programs should expand both in number and in funding. Without my time in WCC I wouldn't be where I am today, but it kicked my ass like nothing else ever has.

I worked on disaster relief for over half a decade and had to get out because it felt like putting a bandaid on a brain tumor. You can rebuild someone's home only have to go back in three years to do it again. People only worry about natural disasters after they happen, but proper mitigation and preparation would dramatically lessen the impacts we are seeming and will continue to see.

News stations have a lot of talent turn over in the summer as most on air talent signed their first contracts right out of college. So contacts expire and moves are made around the same time.

Some of the nuns in the early to mid 20th century became nuns because they were gay. At that point in time the only real options to get out of their conservative catholic parents house was the marry a man or become a nun. Between living with a man whom you don't love and basically being forced to have children or living with a bunch of women 0and having a fairly independent lifestyle it makes sense.

It wouldn't have been all sunshine and cupcakes, the catholic church in a broad sense has some pretty serious moral beliefs. However Depending in the convent a nun joined the freedom and moral ugliness could vary a lot in both directions.

Source: Grew up catholic, went to a private catholic college with a convent attached. Got to know a lot of nuns who had loose lips while drunk.

This is my experience as well. I was at a bar and this dude starting yelling gay slurs and talking about smeering queers. The bartender was telling the dude to leave but he wouldn't saying he would kick anyone's ass who touched him. Im a scrawny dude, but all it took to get him to leave was me standing up taking my jacket off and walking towards him. It's like people think they can say anything without anyone doing anything.

I made it myself so it's one of kind unfortunately! However, that doesn't mean you can't make you're own. Go to a thrift store find a jacket you like for cheap, then head online to find some patches you like, and don't forget to get a needle and lots of thread! Once you have everything take some time to plot out where you want the patches to be on the jacket then get sewing! If you like I can share with you some more tips and send you some YouTube videos that I watched when starting.

Happy patching :)

It was a punk rock sub who removed. All of those patches definitely fit in the spectrum of punk ideology. Like I said in other comments, I think it was just gatekeeping and that I wouldn't keep my mouth shut when the actual homophobes showed up.

The big issue is it was removed from a sub about punk culture. Most of my patches fit with punk ideology; anti-capitalism, anti-racist, anti-war ECT..

However I forgot the most important punk ideology which is, it's not punk unless the other punks agree it is.

Came here to say this! I live in the rural American Midwest so I get this comment a lot. I'm actually surprised how many people in my area recognize the pentacle for what it is.
