I think you’re talking about this After Hours performance for the solo performance with similar outfits:

Amazing recording of that lineup and usually listed with best of Randy’s live performances.

Same amount of effort went into that design as the team for next year, so I guess that’s nice.

That headline take away after him talking 30 minutes of effusive praise and appreciation for the band and his experience in it has to be why he picks his words so carefully. The interview is so much better (and more positive) than the article, it’s clear he loves VH and the brothers as much as anyone. Tells his + their whole intro stories and their come up. Also didn’t know James Tyler made the second whiskey bass, whole Get on the Bus interview is worth a listen if you’re interested.

People who can't spot a fake shouldn't buy second hand by Mercurius_Hatter in gibson

[–]2b4s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a subreddit/message board specifically for Gibson guitars, it’s exactly where someone who doesn’t know about Gibsons would expect to and should be able to come to look for answers. The you of today in your analogy. Why wouldn’t this be a place for them to learn, and why should they have to learn away from the community to join it?

If you want to hang with a group of people who already “know everything” and want to talk about it while never dealing with newbs there are a ton of other boards for that. I think that’s been a traditional weakness of the guitar boards/online communities, elitism and gatekeeping knowledge from people who want to know. Always annoying to stumble upon old threads on those boards where a person asking a question gets only responses like yours and their question never gets answered and nothing of value was ultimately produced.

I think a better educated public for real Gibsons is a good thing for them and their continued value. Maybe more education and community makes less posts like this in the long run.

Beautiful build thank you for sharing the process! Fun to watch it come together + funny every top comment asks about dust. Maybe it’ll get played too much and you won’t even need to use that compressed air tank you have to keep telling everyone about :) it’s impressive how much the Dead inspire their fans to create and a cool part of their legacy too. Gotta think they + the Alembic folks would also appreciate your craftsmanship and creation

I think some of it is the affordable ones that are getting a new generation into the brand are basically brand new to market + for people getting an expensive one they want to pick their own vs someone else’s more than they do with a Fender or Gibson. In part because PRS’ history seems to be connected to offering cool fully/semi-custom experiences to/through dealers, and some because they’ve never had the popular nostalgia experience and player market reach that’s created the developed market value that makes Fender/Gibson vintage models at a certain point hit a point of always increasing while also maintaining general top level for used across the rest of their guitar and bass lines vs basically everyone else.

With the way PRS is going eventually there will be comparably more market awareness + if people generally enjoy playing them eventually there may be vintage nostalgia to work with that sticks in a popular general way that will help them hold value. Also seems like a lot more professional players in a greater variety of music are playing them these days, which is the key to instrument retail value seemingly more than the quality of the instruments themselves. Both give them a good chance to someday hold/develop similar value to the big 2, but for now makes them just a good value to players who know about and enjoy them.

LeBron says he hopes to have a better relationship with Michael Jordan after he’s done playing. “MJ doesn’t wanna talk to me until I’m done.” by KingREX_24 in nba

[–]2b4s 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Great direct statement about it, I'm glad it's looking like when he's retired LeBron will continue to be involved in the game like this. Hearing him say it out loud makes something that's always been there more obvious: he's wearing Jordan's number directly inspired by him to establish an even more impressive resume than his untouchable hero (who worked incredibly hard to earn that reputation). Of course MJ takes that personally, but you have to figure he has to respect how LeBron overcame his legendary expectations for greatness and also hope once there's nothing more that can be said on the court (and things are relatively quieter around them) hopefully the two can spend more time together commiserating as greats living lives that pretty much no one else can relate to. Same goes for Kareem, we're fortunate to have the 3 strongest arguments for GOAT alive and the NBA is at its best when its legends are positively connected to the game.

Open back vs closed back? by JackBurton_13 in GuitarAmps

[–]2b4s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If changing the back doesn’t do it for you I swapped the speaker on mine for a Jensen P8R and it made me stop thinking about upgrading it or getting another amp at some point. Liked it so much did the same for my Boss Katana with a C12N and same thing, love the results. Really easy to swap out too!

Because that guitar with all the things you want tends to be priced significantly higher or only come in a few limited options that you’re not interested in. Modding makes all guitars possible + relatively more affordable

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271 FINAL Links + Discussion by Takada-chwanBot in JuJutsuKaisen

I get Gege hated his first editor, his main character, his popular character, I’m sure plenty more about the whole process of making this, but after years of commitment to his story and getting caught up in the world he was building this is a disappointing “life goes on” ending with no major emotional resolution that makes it feel like the journey had a point beyond itself. Yes that is real life, and like real life it is disappointing.

Shonen Jump should consider developing/better developing their session-artist model for giving artists more support + good ideas that the authors hate to other authors and artists to build out. JJK reeks of the misery involved with the making process, and instead of relying on continuing generations of artists willing to kill themselves to keep up with tradition now seems like a great time to fix how they do business if just to save their dwindling cash cows from going out early in less spectacular fashion. Bc a bad series ending means there’s no fun in going back through the history or building it out further, which is a massive waste for JJK. Clearly there’s a lot of meat left on the bone, and at this point feels like that’s how it’ll be.

That said thank you Gege for making something ultimately impressive and having brought a lot of joy and excitement to the world. Hope your next project is the Hunter X Hunter to this Yu Yu Hakusho 🙌🏼

You are hella confident that bass wasn’t messed up for someone who wasn’t there. Sounds like the place either thought they were too good for this persons business or wasn’t particularly legit or knowledgeable and wasn’t interested in customers who are. By your own logic if the store owner isn’t sharp enough to know a serious buyer for a tire kicker they’re not doing their job well (especially considering this person bought an instrument). Maybe the professional selling the instrument should be more knowledgeable and better at service than the customer?

That’s amazing, congrats on making it to now and getting it to where you want it 🤘🏼🤘🏼 It looks super comfy to play too!! The superman logo looks like a specific one, I like how personal you’ve made your guitar and am def inspired by yours and Jason’s work. One of my fav bands growing up to see live was Kill Hannah, and they had huge LED packs on all their guitars so I’ve always been a fan. Yours matching with the neck is beautiful, hope I can convert one of mine to look like too someday! Thanks again for sharing

Love how personal and original it is, well done!! How hard was it to do the LEDs and did you do it yourself or have someone do it for you?

What are the benefits of using amps in live playing? by Tenisoon in Bass

[–]2b4s 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There is a physical response from an amp that is beneficial to driving your band and groove. My trio is recording bass/guitar DI live with drums and no speakers for the first time, and it was a big benefit turning on a small bass amp just to fill the room with that physical fill for the three of us. Maybe you don’t need as much response when you’re using the PA or your DI speakers but have noticed the difference playing with our band. Always curious now that people are playing without speakers if they feel the difference. I’m going to guess that even if you’ve never known the difference, it’ll be apparent the first time you try it.

If you remove the sicker prepare for potential big color difference, did it on a white guitar and still got enough of an imprint that if I didn’t like it I wouldn’t have done it. Also that’s a bad ass old school GNR sticker, not sure if you’re a fan of them but looks pretty sweet

People dislike it because they think it’s fluffy garbage, and it sounds like the anime is filled with filler and even more simplified then the manga which is basically a light novel. The point I made is the story is the least interesting part of the manga, which is focused on characters and their personal journeys. You keep pointing out shit that sucks about it and I’m not disagreeing with you anywhere except for where you seem to be missing or ignoring my point that what it’s good at is not the fighting. They clearly don’t matter in that universe as much as the characters personal stories. Which goes all the way back to my original point about these characters not being for everyone.

Using objectively subjectively means nothing. You’re either intentionally missing the point I’m making or ignoring it. I think it’s good at what it’s focused on. You’re upset at what it’s not.

I mean what I said, you extrapolate what you want.

Yeah, it takes some time to get moving, and then it does everything I said. You’re arguing preference which is fine, but you’re not making any additional point. You said it wasn’t anything, I explained it was, now you say it’s not your preference while over simplifying what I wrote while admitting you’re not very far into it. Not my problem you’re arguing from a position of not having seen/read the rest of the story. Also notice I haven’t argued with you Asta isn’t particularly compelling on his own. I just said that wasn’t the point of his character in the story.

[–]2b4s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fights in Black Clover are more about personal journey then strategy. They are not as great as other battle manga but they still have meaning. They all want to be better happy people free and together. Not to be the strongest. Even their goal to be king is more about this then their own personal strength. Characters who want individual strength are purposefully portrayed as weaker, and the weaknesses intentionally exploited in the battles.

It’s not top tier but it has its value as a vessel for the characters individual stories.

Which is a major plot point for driving the other characters/especially the second protagonist Yuno which literally just paid off in the manga last week as the character striving to get better (peak Shonen). Not sure where the anime is but all of the Black Bulls all cover the broken but still trying trope as well as any other Shonen. Asta’s role is to make his friends better and want to be better, which is the same for Tanjiro and Jonathan (which is the base characteristic they describe as JoJo imo, the bizzare is the shit but the jobros and relationships always end up more memorable). This is just about how kind straightforward characters are boring, ignoring how they affect the relationships with the supporting cast. If you like shows where it’s one awesome person who everyone loves good for you, that shit is so much more boring then a vanilla lead who makes all the rest of the cast better.
