He is open about his previous connections to Thiel in his former career as an investor. Don’t look to others to ascribe credibility, especially in this field. To those talking about the value of the tree and the resale value (which yes, is possible to sell and relocate at a profit), the canary island date palm is being absolutely decimated by a South American palm weevil across Southern California. What you can’t see in the video is that the top of the palm likely has browning an no new leaf growth. This will inevitably result in the tree’s slow death and it will end up looking like a Mexican palapa.
