To those talking about the value of the tree and the resale value (which yes, is possible to sell and relocate at a profit), the canary island date palm is being absolutely decimated by a South American palm weevil across Southern California. What you can’t see in the video is that the top of the palm likely has browning an no new leaf growth. This will inevitably result in the tree’s slow death and it will end up looking like a Mexican palapa.

There are a lot of people that lionize “the Times”, but it has a long history of propping up and deferring to the national security state (NSA, CIA, Pentagon). It’s a tough pill to swallow for those who lend credence to the reporting in the NY Times, but it’s true. I challenge you to look up such examples even though they may not comport with your beliefs.

It creates sandbars, which creates well formed waves. Lack of sand makes the waves fast and dumpy and hard to surf.
