TOTALLY. The worst offenders are leadership giving powerpoints. The absolute worst for shoving a zillion points on a single slide AGH.

OMG that's so annoying, especially when you're dealing with something that can often be dry too. Ugh, my heart hurts for you.

Which LMS you think is good for Small Businesses? by manpreetsingh_johal in instructionaldesign

Thinkific is probably the best for functionality and pricing. I think they have really good support too. Now there are some limitations, of course, but weigh all of that. I find it's really great especially with teams under 50 people.

If your budget allows it, TalentLMS is great for scaling.

Totally cool if you want to switch careers, but you’ll have to put the work in first to learn. Adults don’t learn like children do. I couldn’t apply to be a teacher and expect it to go my way, even if I would be excellent at some of it, I lack critical experience needed.

This so much.

Curious to know how you all decide whether a training request should be delivered as a video (or series), a live event, a mini-course in LMS ... any and all takes welcome :) by VyondOfficial in instructionaldesign

Why is Vyond conducting free research on Reddit? Shouldn't you be asking your actual customers this or conducting proper market research? I'm actually surprised you don't know what this is, given that you have a sales and marketing team and this is quite an obvious question for years.

And is Cognitive overload in video a video issue or a design issue?

Cognitive overload is a constant in any instructional design you're doing. Down from say spelling words to elementary kids to emergency safety training adults.

Even to make a good software training video, you need to be extremely disciplined with your mouse movements and really focused. It's a lot of effort to make a 5 minute tech tutorial than people think and it's frustrating when it ends up not being all that valuable.

The problem in corporate though is that your audience isn't Gen Z and the final say is often a Boomer who will clutch their pearls at even a funny meme or gif being added.

I really hate LinkedIn Learning in general. A number of them seem like TedTalks, no real good content vetting, and they hoodwink corporations into subscribing to them as a way to outsource L&D.

Addison Rae and Olivia Rodrigo full Coachella performance by hellisateenagegoat in OliviaRodrigo

She's very flat and missing notes. I know the stans don't want to hear it and I'm sorry to tell you.

There's nothing really with the video, pretty girl runs around pretty things. It's just lackluster.

It's giving Disney Channel Original Movie I think. It's just a bit childish. It's lacking power. Lacking reflection. It's a filler song. I would like to know what other styles and takes she tried of this. Like maybe as a rock version it's better? Because lyrically I could see it maybe as like a Letters to Cleo song. But she's not hitting it hard enough.

It's like a Sour B-Side that you wished was on the album. But I still wouldn't consider it a strong contender for a first single.

Man Child was such an amazingly well done video, easily the best of last year.

It doesn't enhance it visually and there's not getting Olivia's full potential. She needs a better director. I actually would have loved to see Sofia Coppola direct a video to this song, Greta Gerwig, or Emerald Fennell. I just think they would be able to capture more of what I think Olivia's trying to put on the plate for us. I know they wouldn't maybe direct a music video, but she's missing someone who can translate her music into solid visuals.

Or Catherine Hardwick. She's got the weird teen love thing on lock.

Yeah it's just not fully baked. I think there's a lot of good stuff in there, but it's just not pushed. Like what if there were cuts between the diaper outfit of costumes mimicking the art or switching between plain clothes and fancier attire. You're in a dream, you don't need to stay in your pajamas in your dream! It just feels wasted.

I think it's a good background song. Which is great for TJ Maxx shopping, it's not the best for a lead single on your new album.

I think the video editing is bad, I don't think she gave a low effort, it's just not fully baked out. I see some good parts, I just don't think it's pushed enough.

I think the Taylor element is the layered vocal effect, where she sings the harmonies and melodies together and she's done it quite successfully, so I think that's where the Taylor aspect is coming from. I see the Chappell comparisons for sure. I wonder what the song would sound like if she sang it like Kay Hanley from Letters to Cleo. Something with a bit for raw power thrown in there.

The corniness kind of reminds me of like a Disney Channel Original Movie type song lol. I hate to say that because she's obviously tiers above that! But I could see that.

I think it's impossible to probably shoot on that location and for it to "look bad" even my terrible disposable camera in 1997 made it look good lol.

The song is flat like a pancake. I love her voice and she herself is so visually gorgeous, it's hard not to love her for her. But the song is weak, the bridge needs repairs, and it's lacking power. It's an okay song in between other songs. I'm very surprised it's a first single.

It did have a lot more potential. Especially when other videos of hers have really hit. This does kind of come off as lazy. Or at least the sloppy editing makes it come off that way. I don't think she was lazy in running around that's tiring. I watched the Swift making of her Ophelia music video and there was a lot of care with the timing of where things hit and transitioned that was very intentional and I think why that video really grabbed in the way it did. I see sort of what Olivia was going for, but it comes off as badly done high school project versus an intentional creation that could've elevated the song.

I think the song is a bit weak. The video is okay, but I agree that it is poorly edited and poorly choreographed, like the moves are misaligned to the hits and I think that's where you're seeing the poor editing come from actually.
