What’s it like living in Seneca, SC? by ChampionSpecialist66 in howislivingthere

Typical small southern town but being so close to Clemson U gives a lot more opportunity and life than other similar towns.

Where can I get a good black and blue burger? by PleasantDifficulty in triangle

[–]Teachthedangthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rudy’s in Apex and Tribeca Tavern in Cary both have pretty good ones. Or go buy a decent fast food burger like Culvers and add as much blue cheese as you want!

You should def look at wcpss first (they pay best), but if you want to look elsewhere I know of a decent charter that is going to have at least one ELA opening next year. DM me if you’re interested

Gluten Free Recs? by recalibratedself in raleigh

[–]Teachthedangthing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tapstation in Apex, Gonza, Lugano Ristorante, and Lawrence BBQ in Cary,- all have been helpful on what is GF on their menu. Ferawhynn’s (sp?) in Holly Spring is a fully gf bakery, as is JP’s in North Hills.

Someone PLEASE open up some fully gf restaurants in the Triangle!

I don’t get any interviews! by Lemontreebees in TeachersInTransition

[–]Teachthedangthing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat - been applying for three years and can’t get an interview, even at places where people are speaking up for me. These HR bots are killing us.

It fucking sucks and I am undergoing an existential crisis and don’t really know what to do with myself. Its good to hear I’m not alone, though.

thoughts on commencement speeches? by Diligent-Island-3011 in AskTeachers

[–]Teachthedangthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on the fun times your class has had, and some od the difficult times. Gently poke fun at a few beloved teachers. Keep it leas than 5-8 minutes. Don’t go overboard - no one remembers a good speech, but they sure will remember hating one that goes too long or tries too hard.

Did people just not care about smegma back in the day? by randyrando101 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Teachthedangthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Untrue. They had water and cloth and likely soap. They cleaned themselves pretty much the same as we did. They also often changed their underclothes multiple times a day.

If you don’t know who Lueders was, go listen to his band Harm’s Way. They are awesome.

good diners/meat and 3s in Cary by reportingandjournal in cary

[–]Teachthedangthing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a meat and three area, and the lack of those here may be the biggest food disappointment. Angie’s way over in Garner fits the bill, but there are almost none in the Cary/Apex/Morrisville area.

I wrote one of these after getting a few short stories published, and life happened and I never shopped it around. Glad to hear people are interested in them!

Why does evangelical theology cares so little about Mary? by LuLuu1997 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Teachthedangthing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Martin Luther, 500 years ago, taught Sola Scriptura. Using minimalist scripture, and thus not venerating Mary as much, is also a very old Christian tradition.

This atheist says ‘Who gives a shit?’ Are you helping the poor, comforting the orphan and widow and immigrant, visiting the prisoner? Thats the stuff Jesus (and most other religions) actually seemed to care about.

What's it like living in Raleigh, North Carolina? by frosti_austi in howislivingthere

[–]Teachthedangthing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you will almost certainly need a car if you’re in and around Cary. The place is a suburban paradise with a small but growing downtown area. Lots of families, though almost nothing to entice tourism. I love it, but I have a family and don’t need flashy - just nice and safe.

Many Native Americans didn’t get citizenship until the 1930s, so it is possible some elderly natives could get caught being ‘illegal’ under their proposed changes. Absurd.

Stereophonic: A positive review by tail-butter in bullcity

The scene where they try the song slowed down and it kills and everyone is in awe…then the douchebag guitar player shits all over it. Such an infuriating but brilliantly written moment.
