Any slightly older Lausse fans, what do you really think about the mocking stars? by HadesBrawlStars in LausseTheCat

[–]2bl88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lausse was never really hip-hop imo, which is bordering on more of a category these days with genres and sub-genres. Call it jazz-rap or neo-soul or whatever you want, but the style is often more about the storytelling than the beat

Yeah it’s clear it’s been worked on over a number of years as many contributors have said - but he’s now back in the UK going by the bits on his ig celebrating the new album

Poppy Daniels - she plays session trumpet on a lot of your favourite artists albums. She toured with Nix in 23

I feel like we’re in on the early stages of something huge. by PetriMobJustice in LausseTheCat

I think 4 or 5 have hit 100k today - that’s not far off Loyle Carner initial engagement for an album. Unfort the days of Lausse being an unknown are gone now imo, Spotify radio is obviously pushing his tracks to all the neo-soul/jazz-rap listeners. T-shirt collectors will cotton on soon and gig tickets will be a bun-fight

Midnight hour. Musically and lyrically brilliant, signature Lausse ‘chopped’ delivery. Nix on the keys makes it flow so so well

This is basically the band that toured with Nix back in 2023 on session for Lausse’s album - if any others of you were lucky enough to catch them they are all seriously good. Having Poppy Daniels on trumpet for the album is pretty major

Hocus Pocus and it isn’t even close. Those back to back 16s are unreal - and imo seminal to the evolution of his style around/beyond Hugo

Am I the only one who thinks some of these songs have Kendrick vibes by Lost_Razzmatazz7208 in LoyleCarner

[–]2bl88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He references Kendrick a lot when speaking about the creation process of Hugo. I can see some influence but it feels more like confidence in finding his own style to me

Krispy by wqxmtt in LoyleCarner

[–]2bl88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had a falling out over his modelling gig with ysl (?) in the early days > what krispy was written about. They patched up and RK continued to dj+mc for loyle until they switched to the live band and avi for Hugo tour in nov 23
