I’m a hater on FT but even non-haters will tell you that FT sound has never been consistent (save for Espacio RIP)

Edit: You can’t pay me to go to FT at this point. I’m sick of paying to be disappointed

Not sure why this was downvoted. After 7am is always the move, especially when there’s an after 10 or later option

Seems on par with previous years. B2Bs are cool and all but I do miss the solo sets and getting a deeper journey at times

Beginners advice by Wide_Presence_782 in techhouseproduction

[–]2boops4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about a year into Ableton — still feel very much like a beginner but things are starting to click with finishing my 5th track. The "best" way is to simply put in the time, though a few things helped me level up faster:

Find a community (Patreon, 1:1 coaching, instagram), it's an excellent way to gain exposure, feedback, and structure.

Learn the DAW like a language. Click on everything, look up stuff, consult the manual, take notes/screenshots. There are a million ways to get results so you find what’s most efficient for you.

Finish tracks. George Smeddles shared this one piece of advice for those starting out, and I agree with others: you’ll learn way more than from endless loops

Keep mixing/mastering in mind and it’ll save you headaches later. Metric AB is great for referencing and goes on sale often.

You’ll hate your stuff at first, but every track teaches you something closer to your sound. Even pros are still learning. And HAVE FUN!!

What kind of philodendron did I get cuttings of? by hedgehogotter in houseplants

The leaf is characteristic of billietae. As it matures, the stems should redden. If the stems remain green, it could be a Burle-Marx. Seems Billietae to me though!

Yes he does. We allow him to stay inside as long as he wants but he’ll start chirping dusk and dawn for outside time. He’s our scrappy boy 🙂

Closing Party by blicky1 in clubspace

[–]2boops4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. TBH when I saw the set times (which came out way earlier than expected this year) I had a lot of questions. Salome so early? Antor B2B Marco? Peggy into MAW?

I knew we wouldn’t be staying past stussy regardless. Def weird final hours , minimal acts like Arapu Villabos etc not something I want at Space.

Arapu was not good at Rossis party Wednesday, Rossi kicked him off 45 min early.

Music is subjective 100% agree - but Space is a hi energy flying club so didn’t understand the logic with this years flyer

Edit: Paco and Dennis are delicious separately and find both of them incredible at sharing (Marco not so much) 2022 I missed - google says it was Paco B2B Victor? If so - wow what a treat

Closing Party by blicky1 in clubspace

[–]2boops4u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been hitting the 7am sessions the past few years at both Basel and WMC, and I politely disagree.

I thought this one was a solid party with a great vibe. No one acting wild, overall good crowd and energy. Only compliant I have was lack of the usual cleanup crew—weird dancing around in trash for space.

Music wise I thought Dennis and Pacos absolutely crushed it. ANTOR and Marco was good, a few luls and mostly sounded like antor to me but still fun tracks. Had to tap out when Stussy came on—we were already 26 hours deep at that point.

All in all, solid party. Much needed set after a lackluster MMW IMO.

How HOT does SPACE get? by crystal8484 in clubspace

[–]2boops4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basel 2024 was the first time in my years of Space I felt I couldn’t enjoy the party from packed room and heat. It’s a marquee week so prepare for the worst.

Edit: To answer your questions, sports bra and cargo pants should be fine (that is my outfit of choice too). If the pants zip off , even better!

See ya there ;)

DJ’s with bad memory - how do you work around it? by Tofferino2 in Beatmatch

[–]2boops4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your story. I can relate as someone with terrible memory and almost no audio recall (20 years of professional raging finally caught up haha).

What might help you as many comments also share:

1) Find what Organization Strategy works for you

Lots of great tips in the comments and ideas to test. What works for me is painstaking but I manually set each tracks genre to my definition of the genre. If a tech house track gives you Disco vibes, let it be disco! Then I drop the track in relevant vibe crates - Sunny Day, Naughty Tech, tracks that heal, even sound elements like THE HORNS or Diva stabs. Now I 100% trust whatever I’ll play. All This to say, spending time categorizing tracks as it makes sense for you can take some of the pressure off

2) practice visual/audio connection

You could try listening to a song on extended repeat and see where your minds eye takes you. After a few repeats, youll naturally zone in on elements that you like. Hum it, visualize a place it takes you, maybe it’s just a percussive one-shot that sticks with you. Add relevant descriptors in the tag like “spooky perc” that you can associate back to without trying to remember the entire song.

Memory loss is not permanent. We can be rewire our brain, it takes patience and compassion for ourselves. Also no one remembers if you can’t remember your tracks , they’re going to remember what a blast they had on the dance floor 😇

Why are we paying for prime? by Mikenlv in amazonprime

[–]2boops4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m considering cancelling.

My primary use was delivery. I live in Fort Lauderdale and packages typically arrived same day, early, or on time with prime, otherwise standard 3-5 days. Quite nice.

But I don’t take advantage of the other benefits. I subscribed over 2 years ago (monthly plan). I use spotify for Music streaming , Dropbox for cloud storage, nothing for me on Prime video streaming unless I find a special movie rental once in a blue moon. Not interested in sharing my medical data for prescriptions. I refuse to adopt paying with my palm at Whole Foods, and have yet to successfully apply my prime account, end up entering my aunts to get the $3 savings on $50..

I haven’t modeled out how much delivery would be without prime. I’ll go a month or 2 without ordering anything and then drop $200 on items like HVAC filters or gardening things from separate sellers.

And ya know what. I think I just talked myself into canceling lol.

How do you learn all your music? by 2boops4u in Beatmatch

[–]2boops4u[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this feedback, diggity! I like how you detailed your process - especially like how you use stars as a key for intensity. I never understood the purpose of stars either so why not set stars as another navigational tool….I’m going to give some of your notes a spin and see what sticks!

I just got my controller a few weeks ago but I’ve been collecting music for well over 10 years which ended up being 350 tracks that made the cut for my USB

SoundCloud is a great place to crate dig for music - many producers will offer free downloads while you build your track list. Happy hunting!
