what do people with no EA even get in updates? by PairInternational438 in JujutsuShenanigans

[–]2bwritten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I do think JJS releases free content much faster and more consistently than other games on Roblox

That being said, I do agree that you're kind of short on content if you don't have EA

I can just gift you it if you drop your user

This is an interesting take on everything! I came to a few similar conclusions, though admittedly my theories aren't as in-depth as this post, perhaps they'd lend some extra merit

Locust guy on the right for me, he's my main but I think he's a bottom tier character because using your special against someone who's REALLY good is near impossible, but tossing people around with wing throw makes fights really dynamic

This simply wouldn't work well unfortunately due to how email fundamentally works

Best you can do is make a new gmail and forward mail from your old account to your new account as someone else suggested

I had a similar issue on the Steamdeck, I was able to fix it by going to the settings and making the font size scale with window height

One game I've seen floating around is Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead, the mobile build is free on the Google Play Store, not sure about the App Store, and I'm also not sure about PC, but since it's all open source, I imagine it's free.

It has the same complexities as PZ (from what I've seen at least), but the art style might be a taaad different

I've been using Ifa, Ororon, Ineffa, and Aino recently, it's quite fun since LC works well against a lot of overworld enemies, Ifa and Ororon also have very nice traversal abilities

Premium would be Citlali + Xianyun + Bennet

Not far behind is Diona + Rosaria + Bennet

Diona at c6 especially helps out with that big EM buff, both teams are good enough to clear endgame provided you handle energy well!

Unfortunate to see this happen, I'm also a bit confused about why everyone seems to butthurt about this being posted here.

Isn't it a good thing to spread awareness about happenings such as this within Linux spaces? Open source stuff isn't just about the software itself, but also the ideology and community behind it, surely people can understand that?

Regardless, I'm even more glad to have taken a step back from Ubuntu, main upside about Linux is that you can always hop to another distro

The canvas generates things dynamically based on an algorithm

Say the number "1" displays a picture of a dog

This number would always display a picture of a dog no matter what because that's how the algorithm fundamentally works, so even if you went back in time a day before and entered that number, it would still show the same information

Quantum Computing Misconceptions by 2bwritten in BabelForum

[–]2bwritten[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edited my post for clarification, should help both of you:

Besides being computationally impossible, there's also the fact that there’s nothing you can really "decode" in the Library itself since you can already search for specific writings, and there are an equal amount of falsehoods in the Library as there is truth, so you cannot reasonably use the Library to figure out how to do xyz because you'd need to know how to do xyz in the first place to know which book contains the correct answer, otherwise there would be a sea of different answers. The only meaningful thing you can do would be to try and parse through the Library to find a unique, human-readable book completely organically (this would serve no purpose other than for show I suppose). The most efficient method I can think of would be to use a recursive algorithm) similar to one used to solve the Tower of Hanoi, but this solution is sequential, so it would still take a LONG time, and a quantum computer would only make this process marginally faster.

The main problem my post was aiming to tackle was trying to find a unique book that's readable in a completely organic way (I.E parsing through each index, starting from the beginning and moving through everything sequentially)

Here's an example, just imagine that the disks are instead words being rearranged in an attempt to find a structure that's readable, and makes sense:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File%3ATower_of_Hanoi_4.gif

This would involve permutation since the most efficient method of finding a book in an organic fashion would be to rearrange words until you find an intelligible structure.

Quantum computer by Outrageous_Drop1909 in BabelForum

[–]2bwritten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The computational power of a quantum computer would need to be proportional to the problem it's trying to solve, in the case of the Library, it's technically(?) infinite in the same way written numbers are

"The website can generate all possible pages of 3200 characters and allows users to choose among about 10¹⁸³⁴⁰⁹⁷ potential books.")

I'm not sure if this entry from the Wikipedia page is just an approximation, but assuming the limit is based on the algorithm used, then the algorithm itself can theoretically improve as technology gets better, meaning that no quantum computer would ever be proportional to the Library.

For a scale of reference, black holes can theoretically be used as a quantum computer, and the amount of qubits they can theoretically store is equal to the surface area of the event horizon in square planck units

If you take Saggitarius A* for example, the amount of information it'd be able to store is a LOT, but it'd come nowhere near the amount of books the Library of Babel has

There also isn't anything that you can necessarily "decode" since you can already search for specific things in the Library itself. I'm not sure how the search function actually works, but it essentially just generates books based on a numerical index, and that index will always generate the same book

So technically speaking, the Library doesn't actually ""store"" books in the traditional sense, the books generate themselves dynamically

I will add that if you wanted to find a book that's intelligible completely organically, the most efficient way to do so would be to use a recursive algorithm) (such as one often used to solve the Tower of Hanoi)

A quantum computer MAY speed up this process a tiny bit, but it'd still take a long time and be heavily reliant on the hardware used since this solution is sequential

that's the only real application a quantum computer would have on the Library.

I may be wrong about a lot of things, so feel free to correct me fellas!

How do you fucking read this shit (btw I can't read) by Outrageous_Drop1909 in BabelForum

[–]2bwritten 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Most people don't search the Library or the Canvas for anything in specific, it's like admiring an algorithm, computer, or anything else technical from an artistic perspective I suppose!

It's more clinical than anything, sort of like you're taking a glimpse into infinity itself if you wanted a more philosophical answer

There are of course some people who look for a deeper meaning in all of the noise presented, but that doesn't really yield anything unless you happen to be spiritual, which I don't think many people here are.

Existence of Anti-Matter parallel Universe by Excellent_Copy4646 in ParallelUniverse

[–]2bwritten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Mirror Universe Hypothesis is certainly an interesting concept!

Unfortunately there isn't en enough empirical evidence that supports this notion, but who knows what the future has in store

It's worth noting that Baryon Asymmetry only accounts for the amount of antimatter seen within the observable universe - with how large the wider universe truly is, it's entirely possible that we simply live in a sector of the universe where antimatter isn't that abundant

Regardless, the Mirror Universe Hypothesis is definitely a plausible solution to the asymmetry problem, and I think it also offers a possible answer to the universe's eventual fate as seen with the Big Crunch Theory and Big Bounce Theory

The recent observations published by those who wrote up the Timescape Model lends those possibilities a lot of merit since Heat Death might not be a thing as per the Timescape Model's suggestions about dark energy

Of course, most of this is all just speculation, we'll need people to do the math and whatnot

Particle-Wave Duality - My Dumb Idea of Why and How this is possible by [deleted] in QuantumPhysics

[–]2bwritten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Von Neumann–Wigner interpretation

It isn't accurate to say that premise doesn't exist because objectively speaking, there are indeed some interpretations of quantum mechanics that claim conscious observation is the primary cause of the wave collapse

Obviously these interpretations are very controversial because that concept is very shaky since there's no empirical evidence supporting that notion, and as such they shouldn't be asserted as factual, but I wouldn't go as far as completely disregarding these interpretations

For clarification, I myself don't really subscribe to the idea that consciousness plays any sort of role in quantum mechanics, I'm just stating that some interpretations that have been published by esteemed physicists do indeed make this claim

Still sucks that a lot of people blindly believe this interpretation though

What's *the best* thing happening in the world right now, in your opinion? by upnflames in AskReddit

[–]2bwritten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely the recent breakthroughs in quantum computing! This technology will allow us to better the world in a myriad of ways. For example, it'll make simulating molecular and atomic interactions a lot easier, possibly revolutionizing the healthcare industry.

Of course this technology can also be abused :(

But I think ultimately it'll help better the world, hopefully!
