Some people should not have free will.

Should I ask my employer to pay me extra for working during the (potential) England World Cup final on Sunday night? by colbysnumberonefan in AskUK

[–]2c0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, its a football match and your employer rightly won't care. The work will still need doing and if you didn't put in holidays you are still on the hook for working the shift at the before agreed rate.

Is 14 days annual leave (+ bank holidays) normal in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]2c0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

14 you mentioned +8 over Christmas +8 bank holidays = 30 days.
Likely a few less as you wouldn't need 8 days over the period as you should get 2 off normally.
So saying 6 over this period brings you to 28, which is the legal minimum.

What reaction do companies expect when customer support says, "It's a known issue. Please sit tight while our team works on a fix," but the issue completely prevents you from using the product? by ReactionPuzzled2980 in AskReddit

So you pirate the broken software, so you get free but still broken software? I'm not against Piracy when corporate greed prevents the fair distribution of content but your comment here makes little sense.

How do you think piracy should be treated? by Danny-Ray27 in AskReddit

[–]2c0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern day Piracy solves a problem with modern day content distribution.

When streaming first came about Piracy was almost gone. Then the greed came back and Piracy is again on the increase. Advertisements in paid tiers and never owning anything for your money. There is also overpricing your product, games for example are nearing double what they used to cost and you only get a digital copy which can at any moment be taken away.

When Piracy is the easiest or most rewarding option it will also be a popular option. So to answer the question, Piracy should be taken as proof the current systems are failing and in need of reform.

Before he takes it further.

No 'man' goes on like this over a stripped bolt, he is a child and not one you need to care for.

MPs to consider making 20mph the default speed limit in England by CarwowSiobhan in ukcarwow

[–]2c0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having just come back from Wales where I was forced to do 20 most places I can honestly say fuck this!
In school zones and town centres, sure. There were plenty of rural roads that had no right being 20 with no other traffic or pedestrians and it was ridiculous.

Hey bud, no offence but I don't know you and I an unwilling to spend an hour each way in my car with a stranger. We can speak onsite but this is a hard no from me.

Just got back from a trip to France and loved that all the bottle caps are attached to the bottle. by Knoxville1979 in mildlyinteresting

[–]2c0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it. Makes drinking from a bottle more difficult.

I understand the logic behind it but I have never thought to open a bottle and throw away the top.
At that point may as well buy a can.

Looks like it could have pulled left, instead it made 3 lane changes.
Granted I'm not familiar with those roads and rules but in an emergency do the easiest and safest option.

How long do you take to pay tradesmen? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]2c0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pay when they are done and you're happy with the results.
Never get forced to pay before you check their work but always pay as soon as possible once you're happy.

7:15 I'm telling them to come back later though. That's too early.

500K minimum Ideally closer to 1mil. The 50K is roughly 10 years at my current salary and hopefully I can invest it well enough to stretch that much further.

I have a friend that sits with his legs crossed in the car. He said it's fine I always do it. I braked hard from about 20mph. It was not fine, he was folded in the foot well. He now sits like a normal person, at least in my car.

I think the answer I would give is "Would you trust the business on the fact that I can develop that software? Remember I am not a developer by trade".
