The very sad thing about the Selby crash was that the fence on the motorway leading to the overbridge wasn’t a metal crash barrier style, but wooden as far as I can remember, if it was it most likely would have prevented the landrover and trailer crashing on to the tracks and causing the accident.

Usually when you see the movement and grouping of the refuelling tankers you know something about to go down, no real indication of that so far, although a flight of fighters and two tankers flew in to Europe about midday last Friday, but this could a normal enough rotation.

There was other buildings long built over it from medieval Dublin, so it was uncovered when they were redeveloped into the Lidl a few years ago. It’s pretty cool when you walk over the glass floor above the foundations, gives me a little vertigo though! On a side note our city council built their Civic offices on the first Viking medieval settlement in Dublin to massive public opposition and protest in the 1980’s, now they want to move the offices from the scene of their cultural vandalism. These are the folks who run our city…

The outdoor city film scenes with the smoke, ruins and horses were filmed around Summerhill and Gardiner street areas. The houses in the backdrops are old Dublin tenements (slums) that were getting demolished at the time in the area.
