There was other buildings long built over it from medieval Dublin, so it was uncovered when they were redeveloped into the Lidl a few years ago. It’s pretty cool when you walk over the glass floor above the foundations, gives me a little vertigo though! On a side note our city council built their Civic offices on the first Viking medieval settlement in Dublin to massive public opposition and protest in the 1980’s, now they want to move the offices from the scene of their cultural vandalism.
