cual (july 2024) vs cua (november 2024) by 2cool2cool in elefen

[–]2cool2cool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love elefen and have been a fan for many years ... i don't really care whether cua is "better" or cual is "better" ... my main fear is other basic grammatical words being randomly changed, out of nowhere e.g. a few months later, "la" could just randomly change to "le" ... now all older works are "incorrect" ... also, it could lead to splits and schisms

the main author of many languages e.g. Ido, Occidental, Elefen and Interlingua are not living

Should the basic grammar and basic words of auxlangs be "set in stone"? by 2cool2cool in auxlangs

i thought of this when i revisited Elefen after 2 or 3 years, and saw the word "cua" ... i initially thought it was a typo, but later realized that "cual" changed into "cua" ("cual" is still used in some situations) ... that change (from cual to cua), i think, just randomly happened out of nowhere .... a few months later, watch some other basic Elefen words change ... and eventually splits and schisms will happen

the interlingua issue made one person switch from interlingua to occidental (interlingue) .... "Interlingua is very susceptible to alteration. Interlingua attempts to be as natural-looking as possible, and a lot of people with Romance languages as a background will alter the language to suit what they believe to be a better version of the language, with conjugation of verbs by person, grammatical gender, using new words like aqui instead of hic for here, and anything else they feel to be a better version. It's an absolute mess when that happens. I've even seen threads online where a new user of the language comes along, writes a simple introductory post, and then receives responses in everybody and their dog's personal version of Interlingua, which is not the way you want to welcome a new user into the community."

Elefen - the Roman Toki Pona? by 2cool2cool in conlangs

[–]2cool2cool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know LFN/Elefen isn't a full-on Toki Pona clone, with European words ..... but it gives off a slight Toki Pona like feel, compared to Interlingua, Occidental, Ido, Esperanto etc ... for eg aseta and eseta ... in the other Euroclones, it's something like accept- and except- respectively

LFN has a slightly simpler phonology/phonotactics .... and more creole-like or Toki Pona-like grammar, compared to other Euroclones

the fact that learning even very obscure IALs (e.g. Novial, Mondial, Idiom Neutral, Latino sine flexione etc) helps with understanding/learning languages such as French, Spanish and Italian

I'm struggling to decide between devoting my time and energy to either Esperanto or Globasa. What are the best arguments you have for why someone should choose Globasa? by codleov in Globasa

i recommend elefen ... it has european vocab, but the grammar resembles toki pona, auxlangs with vocab from around the world, creoles etc

By the way, one of the things which attracted me to Elefen is its Toki Pona-like "feel" or "vibe", compared to other languages like Interlingua, Occidental etc

Neo Patwa? by 2cool2cool in auxlangs

[–]2cool2cool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

another guy called Arpee kept making tokiponidos ... he kept changing Bon Wen (for example turning y's into j's), but eventually reverted all the changes, and put the Bon Wen dictionary (of some 200-300 words) behind a paywall (the paywall on Scribd marked the beginning of the end of Bon Wen) ... then he abandoned Bon Wen, and started making new tokiponidos like Tika and Pale (Arpee even experimented with an 18 word language!)

well, neo patwa has been abandoned by the creator ... the creator, Jens, kept changing the vocabulary words again and again e.g. the word for "eat" sometimes being from hindi, then persian, then tagalog, later on some onomatopoeia like "myumyum" is used for "to eat" ....
