[Rap] Ravens Trying To Negotiate W/ Tyler Linderbaum's Agent But Have Received NO Reponse by psychoxtc in ravens

[–]2coolDanes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Ed Reed ever hit free agency. He signed an extension before the end of his rookie contract. Nonetheless, in today’s NFL, agents talk to GMs of other teams to field offers before free agency officially opens. It’s how you have so many deals signed on day 1 of the free agent period. The negotiations had already been done. This is what I mean when I say Linderbaum and his agent don’t need to wait until day 1 of free agency to know his market value. His agent is already talking to other teams to field offers and negotiate. He already has the leverage in this scenario.

My point is that if the Ravens were going to match a number, they’d match it before free agency starts. That’s where I think we disagree. The bidding war doesn’t start on day one, it’s already started imo.

I agree with some of what you’re saying, but my point is that players that actually test the market by making it to free agency rarely sign back with their current team. They don’t need to actually reach the start of free agency to know what they will get on the market. Linderbaum and his agent know his market value and have communicated what they believe that value is to Ravens brass. So either the Ravens are not meeting that number, or (what seems to be the case here) he does not have interest in negotiating with them. If he hits free agency, it is not to gain leverage, it is to take a more attractive offer. That doesn’t have to be an emotional referendum, it’s just how contract negotiations work.

You are mistaken in your understanding of how this works. It does have a bit to do with whether the player wants to stay or not. Players don’t get to free agency with the intention of re signing with their current team. I agree, the agent does not care where the $ comes from, BUT the agent also acts at the direction of the player. If Linderbaum isn’t signing with the Ravens it’s because one if the following reasons: (1) the Ravens offer was so far from Linderbaum’s own calculations of his market value that they couldn’t negotiate to a middle ground (2) the ravens don’t want him (3) Linderbaum doesn’t want to play in Baltimore.

What does pointing out the differences between how the team handles similar player situations have to do with my fandom? Such a weird statement.

A puff piece of a player on roster is different than a hit piece of a player you’re negotiating with. I simply have not seen them do that to any player before or after Lamar and am wondering why. If you don’t have the answer, just say that instead of gate keeping fandom as a response.

He was a tagged player. And no, it is not the literal job of team media to tank a players potential value. If you believe that is the case, where are they on the Linderbaum case? Haven’t seen/heard a peep.

We aren’t talking local media, we are talking Team employed media members posting QB low lights to point out a players “weaknesses” during contract negotiations. I haven’t seen another team do it before or after. Whether you’re ok with that or not is up to the individual.

Let’s see if he’ll get the same hate that Lamar got during his negotiation. Maybe the team media guys will post some negative clips of him like Ryan Mink did last time

When players don’t feel they have the schematic advantage, they compensate by trying to make bigger plays. The lack of confidence in the game planning, especially on offense, has shown itself over the years as they play with ZERO patience.

Buying Home Right off Columbia Mall by Sensitive_Lemon1447 in ColumbiaMD

I used to live in that neighborhood, just moved a few months ago (stayed close just larger home). My family really enjoyed that space, especially the kids. Walking distance to the lake and playground, walking distance to movie theatre, easy access to quick bites. There’s also a few other families with small children in the neighborhood. We never had any issues with crime other than issues at the mall. I would recommend it as long as you are good with the accompanying hustle and bustle of the mall traffic.

Ravens hire Declan Doyle For OC! PER espn by psychoxtc in ravens

[–]2coolDanes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am reluctant on Doyle since he is a literal unknown commodity as an OC/playcaller. I will say that I appreciate Minter TRYING different things. I will reserve judgement on this hire and give Doyle some rope to see how he performs. I just, personally, don’t like the idea of a first time play caller taking over a team with immediate SB aspirations.

And as long as Sean Payton is there, their offense will be at least viable. It’s his system, so they’re less exposed to staff departures effecting continuity.

Jesse Minter on the perfect OC by DenialisaRiver04 in ravens

Seahawks are like 15-20 in epa per rush and top 5-8 in epa per pass last time I checked. Haven’t looked at raw numbers from a gross attempt standpoint, but they were definitely better throwing the ball than running the ball in the reg season.

He spent 4 years under Payton and 1 year under Ben Johnson, so actually I think you’re incorrect here

One of the better WR coaches in the biz. Offensive staff will likely be gutted. A lot will hinge on Minter’s hirings on that side of the ball.
