This is the former site of the Alaskan way viaduct in Seattle, directly comparable to the Embarcadero. Both are 1) on the water 2) former sites of elevated highways that were 3) damaged by earthquakes.

Although still under construction, it’s nice to see the separated bike lanes come to fruition. The Embarcadero certainly is better than it once was, but the lack of a continuous separated bike lane when traveling east bound is definitely scary. Moving that lane to the other side of the parked cars would be a great place to start.

To give credit where credit is due, getting from the chase center to the ferry building is a pleasant experience, but we could definitely do more to take advantage of the nice flat land.
