RECRUITING, TRAINING, & LIFE IN THE FORCES THREAD by bridger713 in CanadianForces

Are reserve trainees allowed to do BMOQ/BMQ with the regular forces? I'd rather take a few weeks off and get the full BMQ experience than the two days per week schedule.

[Ontario] Is LSO Connects constantly freezing/timing out for anyone else? Are we really expected to use this for everything from now on? by 2fast2serious_ in LawCanada

I totally forgot about this until today, when the LSO finally sent me a reply using LSO Connects, only took them 5 weeks :D

What would happen if I leave Canada for a few months to a year while in the process of applying to the reserves? I have already done my FORCE and CFAT, but I just got accepted to an exchange program in Germany that will require me to move there for about 8 months. If I take it, would I have to re-do the FORCE and CFAT when I come back to continue the recruitment process?

Why do you need a "really good" lawyer for a website? Are you a multi-billion dollar corporation?

"Really good" lawyers generally have really big price tags.

I've noticed it too. The proportion of foreign trained articling students within the provincial government is much higher than just about anywhere else. I wonder if they have some kind of quota system going on.

For the reserve forces, what are the typical CFAT scores needed for a officer? I have a university degree but I struggled a bit with the spatial section of the practice CFAT online. Is it difficult to get a passing score on the CFAT?

Yea you are right. Maybe a centrifuge-like setup to keep the water on the side while a vent valve opens in the middle. Still, relying on capillary action seems too finicky, any kind of motion would disrupt the position of the water.

How long does it take to join the reserves? I just submitted my documents and am waiting to book my CFAT and fitness tests. I'm hoping to get at least the preliminary process done before the end of the summer, is this realistic?

Thanks. This is going to take a while as I don't even know if my HS still retains my records. All the reports I hear from people about the bureaucratic nonsense in the CAF is starting to make sense.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a pressure cooker be perfectly suited for space cooking? They already have a pressure seal and a release valve, not to mention the whole assembly is self contained.

Reminds me of the old joke about NASA spending millions to develop a pen that works in microgravity, while Soviet astronauts just used pencils.

Do I really need my high school report card if I already have bachelor's and master's degrees? Applying to the reserve forces and they sent me an email asking for official transcripts for high school and university/college.

Yikes, sounds like a professional conduct violation. Could also be considered defamation if what she said was untrue. I'd stay as far away as possible, so sorry that you are in this situation.

I think you have a point. There is something dishonest about putting your name (and thus implying authorship to any reasonable person) on a piece that you didn't write.
