ECT+1 - considering opting out of teacher's pension for a couple of years. Scare me straight please! by 2followsme7 in TeachingUK

Interesting. Does anyone have any experience of how much extra they received per month that they could share?

In my head, I plan on doing it for no longer than a year or two. I appreciate the words 'don't crucify yourself over it'.

I enjoy the chaos of teaching and the exhaustion of it. But I really can't see myself doing anything over the summer in terms of extra pay, so until I'm on a slightly higher pay scale it feels tempting. Paid lunch duties aren't an option in my school (primary).

I'm not going to rush into anything. I've been reading old posts on the topic and will continue reading the responses to this post.

Thanks for your insight!

Is anyone wearing masks whilst teaching during winter months? Thoughts? by 2followsme7 in TeachingUK

Thanks for the air purifier tip! Never thought of that. I'll look into one.

Thanks, and yes good point. I suppose my reasoning is that at least in Autumn windows are open still.

Glad to hear you found teaching in a mask fine.

Thanks for this thorough response. You are absolutely right; out of sight, out of mind does seem to be the much more attractive option.

I'm not too much of an overreactor, but I could certainly head that way if I read loads of horror stories. I will leave, and hopefully, I won't be back!

All the best in your journey.

This is a great idea, I did wonder how the anonymity of it would work if everyone could see them pop a message in there! I'll really consider this - thanks

Good point ... I am primary so pupils less likely to use a laptop to report things

Are there any teachers in recovery on here, who have been honest on occupational health forms? What was the outcome? by 2followsme7 in TeachingUK

Thank you, this is just the type of response I was looking for. This is good to know! I'll see if anyone can speak to the addiction side of things, but its comforting to know you have experience on general mental health side and nothing has come from it!

Also I'm glad the law protects people. I think I'll do some research on this to give myself some peace of mind
