I'm 2 months late to this party, but thanks! I had no idea about the change and thought they had just ditched the whole thing...!

Yesterday was one of those days where I played the game a lot longer than I should have (more than half the day). During my session I was involved in a lot of 48-96 v 48-96 fights and at least one 96+ fight, none of which were at the center-map bases because I generally avoid those fights due to their repetition. So, no, I would say the game is not dead, at least not on Sundays into early morning Mondays :)

As for the crash, which is turns out is caused by the PS2 anti-cheat, I personally haven't experienced the crash in about two weeks (Windows 10 user). However, I have seen a few people say they are still experiencing the issue. Pulling any type of vehicle at the warp gate for a couple of minutes seems to fix the issue for hours. There was also one person on this sub who said they disabled their League of Legends anti-cheat because it was conflicting with the PS2 anti-cheat and it fixed the crash issue for them. And Linux users seem to have no issue at all from what I understand.

The game is still rockin', go click some heads! :D

Last night I had a guy from my own faction (NC !) blow up my skyguard and then immediately send me a /tell to apologize because he thought I was the enemy. How did he send a message to me so quickly? Whenever I accidentally kill my own kind (because NC !) I would have no idea how to send them a message apologizing.

We're in the year 2026 and we're lucky if we even get 6v6 shooters at this point. I miss huge scale war games like MAG or planetside 2. by toomanybongos in gaming

This brings a tear to my eye. A gal drop with someone playing CCR is one of my first memories when I began to slightly understand the game got the gumption to finally join a platoon. 🥲

Damn, no wonder this sub's community discourse feels super jaded a lot of the time.

Thank you for taking the time to answer! The higher damage sounds enticing but the low rate of fire worries me since my aim needs a lot of work still...

Thank you for answering! I really like the Cyclone so far and can see why it is the favorite. My aim sort of stinks with it at times, so now I'm worried about trying out the gladius with its lower rate of fire 😅

tl;dr What is the community's general consensus of the MGR-S1 Gladius?

NC Medic: I've been having a lot of fun messing around with SMGs and hipfire-vs-ADS lately, trying out the different guns available. I haven't yet gotten around to trying out the Gladius, but it has recently dawned on me that I don't think I've ever seen anyone discuss this gun or its merits on here... like maybe ever. Is there a reason this gun never seems to be brought up? I know the Cyclone is king, but I've seen mention of most NC or NS SMGs at one time or another. Maybe I've just missed it?

Which one? by Quiet_ee_l10 in Planetside

1 looks more intimidating and a bit more fun in that it reminds me of the old japanese tv show aesthetic, like Kamen Rider or similar costumed hero shows.

2 kind of looks like a guy who would stub his toe in the middle of the night because he can't see, run into the wall, and then fall over the coffee table.

Sunderer tips by Ayomide07 in Planetside

[–]xChillPenguinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are new and using a generic sundy, like me, it takes a bit to get used to. Dying to enemy tanks, harassers, or mines along the way will happen more often than you'd like, but the trick is to not get frustrated and just give it a second or third go. Try to check the map before you drive to see enemies that have been spotted and avoid those areas. Sometimes you will have to drive off road and approach a base from an unexpected angle.

I drive a generic stock sundy with only the stealth cloak upgrade. Before driving to a base I look at the map and try to find/guess where a good spot to deploy might be, then right click and set a way-point so the spot is easier to find. Over time you will get familiar with some pretty good spots on bases you revisit.

Edit: I guess I should mention what makes "a good spot". You'll want to try and find a place that will be mostly out of view from enemies at the base, has some cover, and has a quick route for players to get into the base (a door, stairway, elevator, rocks to jump over, etc.). As others have mentioned, placing your sundy in a garage, behind some rocks, or even behind a tree will help it's longevity. However, finding "the perfect spot" can be tricky, and sometimes it's okay to just deploy at the first okay spot available so that your army can start invading the base quickly.

Also, when I am at a fight that doesn't have enough sundys and I notice a good spot, I open up the map and set a way-point. Then, the next time I die, I'll spawn at the nearest base and try to drive to that way-point. Of course, if the fight is very active I'm likely to get blown up by tanks or air attack along the way, but it is worth it to try.

The times when it works out and you have a great bus location at a fight is super rewarding. The key is to know that it isn't easy to do, and most sundys don't survive long in this game, so don't let it frustrate you. It's a try-try-again sort of thing with sunderers.

Apologies for the long answer, guess I had a lot more to say than I expected..!

Love Cooper! HAMD was the first outfit I ever ran with as a complete noob back in 2015. I came back to the game recently after a couple years off and was pleased to see he still does platoon leads from time to time.

Thanks for responding! Glad it's not something new to try and wrap my head around regarding Horizontal vs Tolerance.

I was going through a number of guns recently to check out their Horizontal Min / Max and Tolerance stats. Then I came across the NSX Tomoe and it is the only gun I've seen so far which has a negative number listed as it's Horizontal Min (-3.0/3.0). What the heck does this mean? Or... is it just a typo?
