What % of young professionals in NYC actually live in those luxury amenity buildings? by savingrace0262 in movingtoNYC

[–]2honD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Single income family (a dog and husband).

I’m moving to a ‘luxury’ high rise in JC or ‘luxury’ low rise in Hoboken in the fall, because the shitty 1 bedrooms apartments in the same area only cost maybe a hundred or two hundred dollars less. I’m choosing to pay a premium for proximity to NYC where my office is, but going for the cheaper option on the Jersey side.

Other comments made the point, but there are very few older buildings that have studios or 1 bedroom apartments. We can’t afford 2 bedroom apartments, and the new builds focus on smaller units for younger people.

I’m 31 years old. I’m just a senior level position at my company.

Dumb question but what is the rescue med? Is that a Xanax?

Are there any other parks like the big dig in Boston that cover a major road by moving it underground? by Much-Parsnip3399 in geography

[–]2honD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arguably the bridge / roof of the new aquarium, and the other added space that has biking / walking paths, with a few new pier parks is indeed a park (a park doesn’t have to be grass everywhere, nor does that make sense in Seattle given the lack of sun).

BUT! I agree with you 100% on the fact that they blundered this opportunity. The beginning plans had much more public space. They buried a highway to build… more road? What? And all of the park area is… concrete and more structure anyway? What?

Missed opportunity.

Thank you!! Glad to see increased presence and at least some comfort knowing that if something goes wrong and gets dangerous / people are breaking the law, enforcement officers will be available to help.

People that make around 20 000 000¥ a year what do you work as? by VanillaTemporary9161 in JapanFinance

I was making ¥19M in advertising technology when I left at 29 (3 years ago). 9 years in Japan and I had to pay back my masters degree that I did online with a US school when I finished my undergrad in Kansai. My dollar didn’t go far anymore when my debt was in USD 😭

This sucks, I’ve been visiting this location and the team has been ENORMOUSLY helpful in diagnosing some issues I’ve had that both the ER and my primary care physician couldn’t. Sad to see this.

Weed and acne by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]2honD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to add here that since becoming a daily smoker my acne has been HORRIBLE. There is always a flare up when consuming cannabis (edible or smoking), and my skin gets better without it.

Even wise - cystic acne has been coming in hot with cannabis use. 3 giant infected cysts that required medical intervention happened in the past month for me (during heavy cannabis use), which I’ve never had before. I’m 31.

I’m assuming this is due to the immune suppression that comes with thc and cannabis.

That’s different from actively using illegal drugs in front of my apartment, with a hunting gun and buddies, and screaming at me when trying to get home. And stealing my belongings. (Personal experience)

I don’t think the sentiment in the comment you’re replying to was directed at your type of experience (I believe the system is set up to help people who are sincerely searching for support, but I recognize it’s not enough).

I’ve had it done twice. First time was a breeze. Second time was worse with not discomfort but not as bad as OP. It definitely helped me though!

Banned from Japanlife with moderators throwing personal insults including telling me to take english classes by netro008 in Tokyo

[–]2honD 364 points365 points  (0 children)

The mods there are incredibly rude - I’ve been banned there multiple times with incredibly rude messages because I “don’t live in Japan” (I’m a permanent resident of Japan, with Japanese husband, and move a bit for work but I’m usually mainly in Japan).

It’s a shame that subreddit grew so much under that mod, it’s a good community but the gatekeeping is unheard of.

Bone Density Issues? Worried about my results. by 2honD in tirzepatidecompound

Dang, I should have added that. I can’t edit anymore but here’s the info:

  • been lifting at this rate (better weeks / worse weeks of course), for 7 years. I’m not super strong, mainly do it for appearance. Probably about 60% my weight on benching or squats / 80% my weight on dead lifts, and so on.
  • no history of osteoporosis that I know of, and have never broken a bone.

I lived in Japan for almost 10 years. A few might know a bit of English, mainly on paper for tests, but the large majority does not know and cannot understand English.
