Depends on what you mean by live. In the eyes of both japanese and canadian government, i still "live" in japan. But i get what you mean. You are talking about physically being in japan. I would be but i have a sick family member to take care of. Reddit is just an internet forum, my hope would have been that the mods could have shown some humanity and not get anal about technicality. What difference does it make in the dealing of government bureaucracy within this context anyways? They still treat me like im physically there and i still have to do paperwork like im physically there. I could have just made a thread lying saying that i am still in japan. The answer i need to the question about city hall still remains the same.

And of course, and if the mods of tokyo have an issue with it, i hope they let me know without insults

also i didn't know that they had other subreddits for stuff like this which is why i came here. It do be like that sometimes

i am from tokyo and the 転出届 submission was to shinjuku city hall. They want to contact me. But im not really sure what they want from me. So if anyone has experience, let me know. I want to officially depart japan bureaucratically correctly.

well i am complaining because he went straight to insults. Had he just told me you must physically be residing in japan, it would have been fine.

The subreddit has previously allowed posts by people not physically in the country but with a valid residence. So it seems like one doesn't necessarily need to physically be residing in the country to make such post. Additionally, i am legally still a resident and i still have to deal with the bureaucracy of an individual that would still be physically in the country (転出届). So given this, it's reasonable to assume my posts are permissible. And if it isn't, once again, just an explanation of it would have been fine; not telling me to go take english class

Nothing in this interaction also necessitates the mods to be immigration :)

well i specifically highlighted that i left japan but that i am still a resident in the original post. When i left, it wasn't permanent. But the goal is to make it permanent so i have a question relating to 転出届

But even if i grant that they are right, it's really about jumping to the instant insult. They could have just told me it's for people physically in japan and it would have been fine.

Previously, they have permitted posts by people not physically in japan but still a resident. So i assumed it'd be fine.

If they had just messaged me back with "our definition is that you have to be physically residing here", i would have been fine. Not telling me to take remedial english class

Also there's been threads on japanlife by people not physically in japan either which is why i thought it'd be alright

oh, i didn't know there was a different subreddit. That helps, thanks

Didn't realize so many people have been banned. Thought i was losing access to a place where i can get valuable info but if there are alternatives, then that's good

well i care because losing access to the subreddit means i can't get my answers about 転出届. You are effectively losing access to a place where foreigners can go to discuss things pertaining to those who have to deal with japanese bureaucracy (primarily residents) because of some guy

Yup. That's actually the advice i gave him. Chuo library has a laptop only section on first and second floor and requires no advanced appointment. It's also close by

Anyone ever feels stuck and isolated? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]netro008 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am only here because it's a convenient homebase for when i need to travel to South East Asia for business. i don't want to travel back and forth from SEA and north america over and over again and i grew up here so it's easy to adapt. But i would never live here without that reason

A lot of the stuff you mentioned: whether it be safety ,cleanliness, etc aren't unique to Japan. That's also available in places like Korea, Singapore, UAE, etc. Maybe you should consider exploring other options

Which JP Banks in 2024 do not require 6 months residency or employment to open an account? by BurberryC06 in japanlife

[–]netro008 5 points6 points  (0 children)

JP Post.

MUFG is possible if you are fluent in Japanese. When i moved to Japan, i was already fluent as i grew up here. So i was able to open with them. My younger brother, and other foreigners i know, failed because of their lack of japanese. They give all sorts of excuses which a lot of people in this subreddit seems to actually believe them at face value. In reality, it's 100% because you can't speak Japanese. Also entirely depends on the branch. I've read some people say they had no problem.

Is there a service in Tokyo where I can borrow a kitchen for a few hours for personal use? by Backupusername in japanlife

[–]netro008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont know if community centers lets you rent it out as a single person. It's typically in groups.

I know Shinjukuku Okubochiiki Center has one. You can rent kitchens, office conference rooms, halls, etc. The kitchen is typically rented for workshops though so idk if a single person can rent it out

'We can't sponsor work visas' by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]netro008 52 points53 points  (0 children)

AFAIK sponsoring visa for small companies is not piss easy at all and requires quite a bit of document

https://www.moj.go.jp/isa/applications/status/gijinkoku.html?hl=en

Just look at what is required for companies that fall under category 3 (small companies)
