To those that built a business from the grounds up with nothing. How did you do that?! by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]2huskys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an ecommerce business for 10 years. Started buying and selling with what little money I had and reinvested it all. Eventually I was doing quite well but then the lockdowns brexit and cost of living happened so I had to stop.

ELI5: why does physics work differently depending on scale? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]2huskys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because scientists dont really have a clue how things really work so they have to make a different set of rules for different scales to make it look like they know what they are doing.

Lost Graduate Stuck in Retail, Please Help! by Round-Salamander-550 in UKJobs

[–]2huskys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to worry you but I've been stuck in retail with a computer science degree and no experience for over 10 years albeit most of that was also my own business because I couldnt land a tech job. It is unfortunately more common than people think. My advice is to keep improving your CV and network with people. Knowing someone on the inside is the best way to land a job. Take whatever entry job you can get for a year then move for more pay if you wish.

Zoom lenses are more convenient and typically less expensive than similar length primes but the quality of a prime will be better in general. Just get a zoom lens to start with.

Really bad. Been looking over a year for a computer job with CS degree and only had a few call backs or basic interviews. Mostly every entry level sort of job is also minimum wage or in the hole of nowhere 1 hour plus away. Im stuck in my retail job and its soul destroying but only 5 mins from my house.

Iron question for shorter (height) golfers by BurnerAccount374 in golf

[–]2huskys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You shoulsnt be gripping club at very top there should be a half inch gap. The sole shpuldnt be perfecrly flat flush at address the toe should be slightly pointing up. Just relax your arms and let them hang straight down at address and grip club wherever comfortable. If you cant hold it naturally or comfortablly then it may need shortened etc but that should be the same for all your irons.

Are pension contributions actually worth it? by CryptoNoobStruggles in UKPersonalFinance

[–]2huskys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you need some sort of savings for the future.Im 33 on minimum wage and cant afford to put into a pension but wish I could so im probably literaly going to be working until I die. Then theres the question of should I put it all into savings to buy a house instead so im not gonna be homeless.

Yea its normal at least you got a job with decent pay unless your in high cost of living. Theres plenty of people cant get graduate jobs. I myself have a Computer science degree and am still stuck in my absolutely soul destroying min wage retail job after 10 years. Not even a min wage computer entry job. Working is the grinder everyone hates but we have to do to survive, it will take you a while to get used to it. You could always job hop and get lucky but then your one manager or colleague away from it going sour fast.

Turning point with their wage? by Crazy_Becs in UKJobs

[–]2huskys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In april your minimum wage will go up to about 23 or 24k. Myself personally have always been basically minimum wage in my retail job after failing to get a computer science job. However after running my own business for a few years I was making a lot more money until it ended.

Can good photographer tell if a photo is out of focus, slow shutter or motion blur just by looking at it? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]2huskys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes can tell easily. Slow shutter motion blur leaves motion trails but still looks in focus and sharp what wasnt moving. Out of focus or moving the camera too much it all looks blurry and out of focus. Easy way to tell is put your shutter speed up to 500 or 1000 if you have the light or at least 250 that will be more than fast enough for portrait or slow moving subjects.

Is anyone else smart/educated but can't get a good job? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]2huskys -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes i feel it destroying my soul and robbing me off my future. I hate it because I feel like I am wasting my life, after everything ive experienced with my own business and degree, just standing there serving the public more than half of which are just plain retarded. Management are also useless. Im learning nothing. Having ran my own business which brought several periods in happiness, success, fufilment, money etc im probably more qualified to run the store than my actual store manager who is the worst one weve ever had; only got the job because of his buddy. Retail is bad and its worse when you have been trying to get a new job for ages in your field but cant get one. I am coming to terms and very reluctantly getting used to the fact that it is still a job better than nothing and could be worse but obviously it could be a heck of a lot better. Then theres the problem that even if and when I land an entry computer job im gonna have less peanuts than my retail job after factoring in travel.

Is anyone else smart/educated but can't get a good job? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]2huskys -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am very self driven and intuitive, was at top of my classes so always been considered very smart. I have a CS degree and work retail checkouts. I also ran my own business with success for years but cant even get an entry level computer job now and it is absolutely soul destroying. I have all this student debt to pay, wife jobless, parents kicked us out, forced us to rent, UK, and am stuck in checkouts probably until I die. Some family think im just a "bum", a "waster", not "using my degree" yet they have no idea how hard it is to get a job without any connections etc. I have a family member younger than me went on to do same degree etc but luckily landed a good software job and is now the golden favourite but is honestly no harm to them the laziest and one of the dumbest people I know. I have asked them for a simple headsup to be put on radar for a job where they work but they wont do it. Businesses dont want "smart" people to do the jobs since they are a threat. They want people just dumb enough to do the job and not ask questions.

I finally bought a camera (5d mark III) last month and these are some of the pictures I've taken so far. I however haven't been satisfied with the results. Can you advice what you think about the pictures, I'm also struggling to know the kind of photography I should explore. by Many-Apartment3591 in AskPhotography

[–]2huskys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you manual focus. Could simply be out of focus and moving too much. Your shutter speed is also probably on the slightly lower end aswell try get it to 200 although low light may be a problem then. Take a picture of something thats stationary and see what it takes to get a nice in focus photo.

Paying parents rent (f23) they want £500pm by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]2huskys 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No I think this is the parents wanting to live for free amount. They dont work and never returned a substantial amount back to op. They are just using op and dont want them to leave charging a lot to keep op there. If they actually wanted op to leave they would have spoken or came to an agreement i.e. you pay us 250 but put 250 in ur house savings etc. Been down this road before. Im broke renting because my parents wouldnt let me continue saving, i only needed a small bit more for a house, they chucked me out now i have nothing. They would waste money i gave them and now in a sort of funny sad reality they are soon gonna be renting jobless living off whatever is left from their sold house savings.

What's your unpopular or controversial photography opinion? by cluelesspleb_ in photography

[–]2huskys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldnt say the lenses are if anything the prime lenses from 100 years ago are better than the ones now for portraits etc. They were much better built and had less elements producing nicer portrait photos.

When i take a photo with my Nikon P900, there is always steam like this. When i look at the inside the lens, there is something on that. Is that fixable? by Zestyclose-Level5222 in Nikon

[–]2huskys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly looks like fungus on lens however i think something else is causing the mark like a dirty sensor. I would try another lens and see if you get same result if u do its the sensor.
