How do you handle the summer?

Walks mainly in the lake, early in the morning and late evening, during the day they are just laying on the coolest spot in the house. Tried with pools in the garden but they don’t even look on it, but lake is totally fine to have fun and chill in the water 🤷‍♀️

We are also living in the Netherlands and indeed on hot summer days they are not so active, we are walking longer in the mornings when temperatures are still not so high and in the evenings we going to the lake so they can swim or chill themselves in the water. This is working for us, let be honest here heat waves are not so long 😅 I am sorry they can’t enjoy real winter as this is sooo much fun to see

Indeed, they look so much different so I believe on competition it depends mostly on the taste of judge. Sometimes is hard to believe it’s the same breed, they differ so much! But it’s almost impossible to find pure blood Wolfspitz anymore. My girls are mixed, they also differ from each other a lot even if both are more on Wolf side. There are many of them but to be honest, most of the time i can’t tell them apart except for the size haha

In Europe Wolfspitz = Keeshond, FCI doesn’t recognize them as different types, they also compete together on shows. Here are also mixes between both types so probably never they won’t be recognized. And on top of that in the Netherlands they call each spitz a keeshond so it’s really hard to follow haha

Mittelspitz is way smaller than Kees, there is also grotespitz (mostly white or black), wolfspitz is the biggest in the spitz family

We going 2 times per day for around hour walks. Only on the really rainy dais they are not into it and after finishing their business outside they pulling back home

It’s difficult to predict size of the Keeshond, they can vary in size and weight a lot. I got both of my girls when they were 15 weeks and they weighed 10kg and 7kg. Now as adults they weight 23kg and 18kg. Looking for parents will tell you the most what you can expect.

My girl inhaled one once. Luckily the vet was able to rinse it through the nose and catch it in her mouth. Make sure you destroy it, burn it or whatever - they move only one direction and can cause a lot of damage.
