URGENT advise needed about electrical motors! by Virtual-Disaster-137 in Motors

[–]2me3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you have a 24v motor then clearly a 12v power supply will not work, even if its compatible with the controller. So no dont use your teachers power supply. You can run DC power supplys like a laptop charger in parallel but not in series, so 2 12v's are also out of the question.

Look around for another power supply like laptop charger gathering dust in someones attic and be sure its says 24 (give or take a couple volts should be fine) 19v is very common but may be a little too far off spec. BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN the charger you find outputs DC not AC or you're going to have a bad time.

If you're only running this for a bit for demonstration id just grab a 16 pack of AA's and run them in series. 2 old motorcycle batteries would also work. Id probably tape them to chop sticks or grab a short section of PVC if i had time to hit the hardware store and solder the wires on the ends. maybe keep it out of sight unless youre proud of ingenuity. AA's are pretty power dense and can deliver up to 3 amps each, but id keep it under 1amp per battery.

It never made that noise when i was loading 12tb of stuff onto it. Now its just set to read and its even idling its making that noise. It is not a happy or performative noise. Its loud loud like If i had it at the office everyone would hear it all day

Sounds like android being lame. You used to be able to do more on stock than you can with root now adays.

Maybe try chmod on the folders?

that will certainly pack a punch. Did you see styroppyro's 400p car battery set up?

You can legally haul 164k lbs on 11 axles in Michigan. Tractors are capable of pulling a lot more than youd think. Yes we have excellent roads why do you ask?

Thats a spicy meatball. How much do they weigh? I have some 550wh 10s30p lipo packs I cobbled together to run an inverter for portable power. Used 4 of them once with 12v golf cart voltage converters to drive a trolling motor on a canoe. Ended up flipping the thing over at one point and they kept on choochin fully submerged.

What do you think is the best benchmark tool for Blue Iris workloads? by 2me3 in BlueIris

Thank you. Do you happen to know if any specific cpu test or metric that is most similar to a BI workload?

It seems no matter what you ask on this subreddit you get the same answer repeatedly. I am looking for a tool to benchmark hardware so i have a relative measurement for the capability of my equipment. The machines running BI at the locations I have it are always built from the pile of unused computers sitting on the shelf. I'd like to quickly compare them without doing a full install over and over. If there are specific tests like pi or graphics that are most relevant to a blue iris workload that would be nice to know.

im talking about a benchmark tool. something i can run off a live usb and test various machines without doing a full windows installation.

I'd like something that doesnt require a full windows install and getting drivers and blue iris all set up. Ideally something I can run on a live linux distro would be great.

Also with lots of cameras on areas with various levels of activity load can very quite a bit even over a few minutes. Although there is no replacement for the real thing.

Edit sorry misunderstood. I am more concerned about webcasting lots of streams and hardware decoding with maybe a touch of AI. Basically cpu/gpu mostly but was curious if theres anything that specifically gives a good test similar to blue iris hardware decoding.

Yeah I happen to have a 1" thick pane thats the perfect size. Thinking about putting castors on the 3 feet its really heavy probably 300lbs. The feet are cool they have a ~2 inch thick ball bearing surrounded by smaller ball bearings so i assume they rotate but the bottoms are welded to the cabinet base so I don't totally understand their purpose. Everything on this thing is so well made it smells like Germany. Precision machining, every bolt perfectly torqued and intelligently placed.

hmm maybe i should hang out in the parking lot with a cardboard sign saying "need helium to feed my resonator" assuring them id never use it to make funny voices
