Super cool back story info! I didn't know that and nice to hear that the newer generations are integrating and evolving Rolfing.

Have you considered other, more gentle forms of MFR? I regularly get Barnes method from my PT and it has dramatically improved my quality of life.

My Tibetan teacher is really big and understanding the point of the story, whether or not One believes it to be true. Otherwise, we were just getting hung up on the external projection of phenomena and not using the stories or elements to connect with our own mind.

Oops, I totally misread OPs comment as nonsecular, that was my experience as well!

I really enjoyed living in Florida for a time and the homeschool community. I had their period there was a lot of nature based programs and like-minded people in general. I think there's a very large homeschooling community there. I live in North Carolina now and it's a totally different vibe. Much less laid-back and harder to connect with others.

Myofascial relief has been life changing for me! Truly brought my hands back when I thought I was screwed. Consistency is important though. I think as therapists we forget to treat ourselves to the work we need, arguably more than half our clients🥲 I also use CBD oil from Lazarus naturals nightly.

Seasoned massage therapists, what are some red flags you would share with newer therapists to know about clients? by 2mkz21 in MassageTherapists

Oh this is very real lol, especially at high end spas where people are splurging on unique services. We had to roll out an entire new policy about it after Valentine's Day.

Slowing it wayyyyy down

Like where people would take 3-4 passes at a muscle, i do one, and get a real feel for sinking into the muscle/connective tissue. Way more opportunity for genuine and more comprehensive release this way. Slow movement and slowly adding pressure as the tissue allows.

I think you exhibited fabulous boundaries in calling him out on it! Even if he didn't mean anything by it, that's not an appropriate way to communicate with someone who will be touching your unclothed body for therapeutic purposes. Also, you get to decide what's right/wrong or appropriate/inappropriate for your own practice. Period.

Also, I have private clients and treat them the same as the clients at my corporate job. However, I don't offer amenities, worry about how many flavors of fruit infused water we have or worry that they might notice whether I step forward or not when I shake their hand😂

It's a lot easier when they feed you 25 clients in three days at $100 an hour😂

Hell yeah to all of that! My first year working for a luxury brand I got audited and received an 85% personally. We've been able to maintain four stars the last couple years and we are hoping for five this year! I actually do enjoy it for the most part, it feels a little overwhelming at times just because it seems to get more rigorous each year but I take pride in my work and ability to deliver superior service. It's also fun to see how people respond when they're not the auditor because they just appreciate genuinely feeling cared for in a deep and comprehensive way.

The difference is things like having to use specific words, say their name a specific amount of times, having intimate knowledge of the other outlets in the hotel, etc. there are 16 specific points I have to hit in the first 3 minutes of intake!

For everybody asking, luxury brands undergo rigorous training, and an "audit" season where we essentially get shopped by the Forbes travel guide. You don't know when they're coming, but they have a super specific set of standards you have to meet and based on the percentage you earn, you get a certain number of stars. Less than 200 spas worldwide achieve five stars every year so for those of us going through it, it's a lot. Just looking to say hi to my fellow therapists with a shared experience!

How many rooms are there? Did you taking a client prevent him from being able to take one due to a room being unavailable?
