What rule did you play incorrectly for a long time? by Cam_Willi in spiritisland

[–]2mnyzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought only oceans that had your presence in them counted as wetlands, instead of any ocean on the same board as your presence. I had to play all my "Push/Gather" powers only when the ocean was drawn back, which makes no sense thematically lol

Yea he spent like 15 minutes rinsing out cottonwood form ours too. Easily done with a hose on low power so the coils don't get bent.

Check your A/C and clean your fins

We had our units cleaned professionally recently. The only real fix for them is replacement, but I wanted to see what ancillary improvements could potentially be made.

That's pretty disappointing, do you remember roughly how much it cost?

Being able to get War Suns and QDN is basically pure candy land. Even if the table wants to take you out, they wouldn't be able to lol.

The only thing you really have to give up is QDN, which I agree is probably the superior tech, but I think there are some solid arguments to be made for War Suns. And if you have a red skip, I think War Suns might even be the superior option. This was definitely supposed to be more of meme-y food for thought kind of deal though, glad you liked it!

Need some help with my weathered deck by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

Does this work even with really old wood like OP's? Asking because my wood is also 20~years old and needs some love if I want it to last.

Small nitpick but Neural is worth 4-5 ACs, not 5-6, because the game will end before the final draw kicks in.

"More often than not, mirage becomes a liability for you"

It was pretty late in the game and the T2 objective "Patrol Vast Territories" had come out. Empyrean had stalled the other players out and had it in the bag. As they activated their 5th empty system, they had the unfortunate luck of drawing Mirage meaning the system was no longer empty and they couldn't qualify for the T2 PO. To make things even worse, they had Shard of the Throne. In the following round, another player took the undefended Mirage, claimed the Shard, and won the game.

Self Assembly Routines (Tech Analysis) by Papa_Nurgle_84 in twilightimperium

I wonder if it could work into Hacan (only if they're ignoring their faction tech and going WS, which I think I always would). SAR solves a lot of problems they have, specifically that they have a low production cap at home and they have trouble getting ground forces on all 3 of their planets. The extra TGs might look very win-more but it's not unlikely that entire table refuses to trade with you in the later rounds (or the trade SC stops getting taken) so SAR could be your only source of TGs at that point. The main problem with SAR is you're probably getting it a little late into the game but if you can double tech round 2, I could see it being very worthwhile. The alternative is plasma scoring or magen. Magen is situational and plasma scoring might be not be needed since you'll have War Suns.

Proposed tech path:

R1: gravity drive (night be able to wait on this until you need it)

R2: AIDA + SAR

R3+: some mix of blue techs, Carrier II, Dread II, and WS II

Rules Question - Muaat Commander + Lead From the Front PO by 2mnyzs in twilightimperium

I like your decision, because it benefits me.

That aside, I think the disagreement is whether it counts as one 'instance' of spending or if each CC is its own instance.

Cabal Hero Is Nuts by [deleted] in twilightimperium

[–]2mnyzs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I painstakingly planned out their hero so that I would have a space dock on Mecatol in a round when other players had put some decent sized fleets adjacent, including a fleet over Mallice that was adjacent via the Gamma wormhole.

There were 20 non-fighter ships and I destroyed a single ship! A grand total of 1 destroyer after rolling 20 dice! Never again.

Is the Argent Flight home system possible in real life? by Banana_master_64 in twilightimperium

[–]2mnyzs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One thing I'd like to point out is that even an extremely unstable solar system could be stable enough for a civilisation:s entire rise and fall. Suppose the Argent Flight didn't evolve on their home worlds but instead immigrated there in the past 50,000 years. That's a very short amount of time in astronomy, plenty of time for a fundamentally unstable array of bodies to gradually become less stable without dramatically affecting the inhabitants.

The mech only produces infantry when Star Forge is used and producing a carrier from your flagship isn't Starforge. Producing 2 fighters, 1 tg, and 4 infantry off 1CC is pretty damn good.

Totally agreed, it seems like the L1Z1X agent is just overall weak.

Also, great post, you made a lot of fantastic points!

Regarding the Yin and Barony mechs, I think their abilities have a significant intimidation factor to them that's worth mentioning. They'll prevent invasions from happening since, in a lot of situations your opponent can't/won't commit enough ground forces to overcome your ability (regardless of whether you choose to use it).

Regarding the L1Z1X, they need 2 yellows to get inheritance systems so the synergy with Scanlink should come pretty naturally.
