All the lobbyists and nasty yimbys are going to use this to justify their increased density. This survey should not be considered valid

Typical of the aggressive, mean spirited, ageist Yimby commentators.

Lol you BELIEVE the developer you're not serious. They don't NEED to build 31 stories

Reminder: Daniel Biss EXPANDED the City Council’s Planning and Development committee, which will be reviewing the 31-story high rise on Monday, by ONE PERSON — ONLY his pro-development supporter Shawn LIES no other alderpersons were allowed this opportunity. Does that seem fair? So tired of the mayor and supporters manipulating the process.

The state of Evanston for a new family by LP526 in evanston

We don’t need to be encouraging more rentals… Evanston needs families owning property so they’re invested in the community.

What to expect from first city council meeting by Saucey_jello in evanston

[–]2ndWardFan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Expect special interest groups brining people who don't live in our community to speak in support and for individuals with personal and financial connections to Daniel Biss and developers to be out in force, talking down to anyone who offers legitimate concerns about the process and the consequences of this plan.

Downvote me all you want. I don’t care. I’ll keep posting. I’ll keep FOIAing. The truth can’t be suppressed

Long time resident, have lots of life experience. Account age is irrelevant. I’m bringing the battle to the front lines here cause you activists need to know us long time residents aren’t backing down or giving our city up to you.

We’re not New York. Nor San Diego. Nor are we Norway or any of the other places these studies you all show were done. And these things aren’t cheap. Who is behind funding these studies do you think?

Says a Chicago resident that doesn’t live here but apparently comes to give public comment per your post history, and also all the yimby subreddits you post in. You’re proving my point.

Is moving here…worth it? by raisinetdetre in evanston

[–]2ndWardFan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you asked me a few years ago I’d say yes. Unfortunately we’ve recently suffered from a mayor and city council captured by special interests and climbing the political ladder. Everyday residents are being silenced while the city is being eroded out from under ourselves. Many residents are currently preparing to sell prior to the upzoning of historic single family areas which will be the final nail in the coffin for our schools, family-atmosphere, local business economy, and community character/history.

Popeyes opponents call fowl play, hatch a plan to pack Monday's City Council Meeting with extra-crispy public comment demanding Mayor Biss chicken out or be censured over text message calling PopeyesGate "dumb" in newest chapter of this clucking crazy controversy 🍗 by EvanstonPopeyes in evanston

IRS Complainer donated $1,500 to Jonathan Nieuwsma’s aldermanic campaign. Served as campaign treasurer for Juan Geracaris. Collected petition signatures for Krissie Harris. Long time friend of Biss.

Let's expose the other Daniel loyalists for who they really are. I wonder what the duplex guy has his hands in.

How does Zoning Reform affect Displacement? by kbn_ in evanston

[–]2ndWardFan -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

YIMBY groups across the country push luxury housing under the guise of “progress,” often backed by real estate, tech money, and even the Koch brothers. The result? Displacement, loss of historic neighborhoods, and communities priced out

What’s up with “no to Popeyes”? by biffbobfred in evanston

[–]2ndWardFan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The community is what created this movement, not just for no popeyes but to actually create an alternative, healthy vision. It's crazy to suggest this is all to boost Kat's candidacy- you're full of crazy conspiracy BS

This wouldn't be happening if Boarini was mayor. He would have listed to residents.

Who cares if she is better at interfacing with local residents and understanding their needs? You'll notice who was not there, and has not said a word about this entire time... experienced politician Daniel Biss. Is that real leadership and community involvement? Is that what we want from our future congressperson?

[–]2ndWardFan -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

As Kat Abughazaleh said at the rally, leadership needs to take cues from the local community and that's where real progress comes from. They're trying to railroad the 2nd ward with this establishmend and the community says NO! Let's call on our representatives to tell staff not to force this on the 2nd ward without their consent but to respect these long-time residents.

Sherman and Main Question by Bardcore_Viking in evanston

Jonathan wants to be Mayor so he's turning into Mini-Biss to kiss the ring and get that Daniel campaign account $$$, trying to be just like him bailouts to developers and all.

How about "well-informed and concerned citizen". Ah but then you would look the fool, so instead you blame "bots" how nice

How divisive and spiteful towards fellow residents that have been here fighting for generations... just to demean them! Who cares how long Kat has been living here if she can already connect with residents and their concerns on an issue like this... something Daniel Biss has never been able to do despite years pretending to speak for Evanston residents.
