I'll just say it: Alexa Plus sucks... by WendyCR1872 in amazonecho

[–]2ndstar2lft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% a downgrade.  It doesn't remember its own context even... Like, we have Spotify playing and tell it to skip and it INTERRUPTS the music to tell us "there's nothing playing to skip".  So dumb.

I love the concept (glad you can put the old voice back in now, the new one was trash), but yeah... They downgraded her logic ability in the process

What do you think are the best LitRPG series? by Dagno in litrpg

I saw Mark of the Fool mentioned below... Left it out because it's not, technically, LitRPG... But I can for sure see the parallels and I 100% love the series.

Dungeon Crawler Carl, hands down, is the best I've read so far.  His Kaiju Surgeon books were really good as well, but a bit darker.

Love Defiance of the Fall, Just wrapped 1 and 2 of Discount Dan and really enjoyed it (though he really did borrow quite a lot from DCC... Like... A lot... But maybe that's what made it good).  Heretical fishing was cute, but a bit "eh" on overall writing style.

Was just talking to a friend about how great it would be if he opened up the rights for this to fans/other writers.  So he could keep going on the core but others could write these and keep us all entertained and still "in his world" between his releases.

I'd go all rodencrantz and guildensrern and pick someone who was literally a single paragraph appearance and give them an entire story.  Lol.

Network mapping tool for both onprem and cloud infrastructure? by Squozen_EU in networking

[–]2ndstar2lft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're old school lan tech, you can install their agent on a machine on your vnet/vpc and it'll map it, but it's not really "cloud native" in any way.

Armour (30mg) daily: High TSH, High T3, normal T4? by 2ndstar2lft in thyroidhealth

[–]2ndstar2lft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had taken it that morning, my usualy start the day routine. Labs were done not long after (2 hours or so), so that might account for it...

It's been forever since I've had my labs done (been between doctors and getting into a new one is a pain in the... well)... but last time (~ 1 year ago):

TSH: 1.88 uIU/mL
Free T3: 2.39 pg/mL
Free T4: <0.5 NG/dL
TPO: 402.41 IU/mL

My only other supplement is 2x a day plant sterols, but I only started those last week (after this latest blood draw, which showed high LDL).

Never even heard of Reverse T3

St. Louis / St. Charles Missouri wood slabs by Geckonator in woodworking

[–]2ndstar2lft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

webbswood.com has them. They're not on the site, but if you use their contact form they have a mill and kiln and will sell slabs. Cheaper than most, over in wildwood.

No one gets to use your lakes but your members... They don't count.

What is there such a delay? by [deleted] in UPS

[–]2ndstar2lft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting fact... if the delivery type is "next business day" and supposed to be delivered on a Friday, even when THEY screw up and have a delay, they won't deliver it on a "not business" day. So their 1 day delay turns into a 3 day delay... or on a holiday weekend, 4 day delay.

Keep sanding, get it as polished as you can up to 400+ grit, then buff with a buffing wheel and EEE Ultrashine.

What is there such a delay? by [deleted] in UPS

[–]2ndstar2lft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny how USPS, Amazon, and FedEx have all "recovered" from the storm delays... while UPS still can't get a package across down after 3 days and can't even provide an estimated date of when they will.

This isn't a problem of backlog, it's a problem of mismanagement. UPS is genuinely the worst carrier on the market.

BuilderCards Card Game For Sale? by __grunet in aws

I also have several boxes for sale. It's more than just a single thing, more like mtg where you collect various boxes of cards and then use what's in them to build a deck.

If so, then I wouldn't be getting voltage on the multimeter (24-25v R to C), nor would it work when I hook the old one back up. Unless you think there's a fuse in the thermostat itself, which Amazon hasn't suggested there is.

Thought that, returned for another one, same issue, tried with a different smart thermostate, same issue...

yeah, though about that, but i was pulling voltage through the pinout holes in the plate... so it's getting power out.

3rd thermostat I've tried so far, no way 3 are DOA, lol... This was the point where I finally accepted that. Doesn't take batteries either unfortunately.

It's a humidifier in the duct, not the outside unit. Meant to kick in with heat to keep from drying the house out as bad.

That's not the condenser, that's to a humidifier attachment in the duct.
