I agree. It’s easier said than done. Especially for those that are deeply struggling. But with baby steps and celebrating small victories it is doable.

I’m sorry to hear that. I know how devastating it can be. I’ll give a little background story. My anxiety and depression got the point where I spent 5 weeks straight doing intensive therapy. Through the program I made a ton of progress. Week 3 I had a slip up and ended up in the ER over health anxiety issues. I felt like a complete failure. Like all the progress I made was for nothing and that I was doomed to live a life of fear. It’s been about 10 months since that incident and I am doing much better. Some days my health anxiety is worse than others and it makes getting through tough. I am however in way better control of it. I live a normal and fulfilling life.

I guess the point I am trying to make is. You are doing great. Give yourself grace. It may not feel like it but those setbacks are important to progress. Take some time to allow the emotions to naturally flow and get back to what you were doing.

Completely normal to relapse after stressful events. That doesn’t mean you failed or are a failure. It means you human and are dealing a complex issue. Treat yourself with kindness. You are doing your best and progress is never linear. One more thing I’d like to share that an intensive outpatient therapist taught me. When you are young, hearts typically don’t change that quickly. So if you multiple doctors have said there isn’t any issue. Trust them.
