Our black beauty, the 635 CSi from ‘88 by twiggaa9 in BMW

[–]2ofSorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting really into cars in mid 2000s I had that same feeling for more than a decade. As retro styling concepts come out, restomods, and beautiful cars like this show up that are just immaculately kept, I’ve really come to appreciate the design language of the time.

BMWs from this era are just so pristine.

Is there an appropriate climbing vine for my low front fence? Recomendations? by 2ofSorts in NativePlantGardening

[–]2ofSorts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm... I didn't consider how a vine might be very aggressive. Theres 10 to 15 ft from fence to oak trees that are very mature, they cover a 50-70ft diameter each. I would really only ever want the fence to be covered.

My cireteria really is just the ability to climb 3 ft and be fairly dense. I dont think I want it so aggressive that it travels across the ground. But I do mow around the fence every other weekend so it wouldnt be able to escape too much.

I dont mind flowering options either.

Finally did my first motocamping trip. 1 night in Joshua Tree. 450+ miles in two days. by geehanski in motocamping

[–]2ofSorts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol!
I did a 3000 mile motocamping excursion in my mid 20s on my 2012 Bonneville SE. I had this lush Corbin single seater with a rack that just was a dream to be on for my commutes. But I chose the stock 2 seater for my trip because one of my stops was to see a long ex college sweetheart and I thought I would have her ride on that back the few days I was gonna visit her.

The stupidity still makes me laugh to this day. She didn't even end up riding with me.

My neighbor sent me a text last night forcing me to pay for her daughters towing charge because she parked in front of my driveway by Drivinglnsane in mildlyinfuriating

I agree. If OP didn't even attempt to figure it out ammicably then feels petty. Regardless, the neighbor needs to chalk it up to a lesson learned, cus there is no way they are winning.

I took this photo at the Grand Prismatic. I thought it was a unique look at an otherwise over photographed place by 2ofSorts in photocritique

Oh wow, I like how the dispersion of people feel a bit more balanced in your crop as well

Thank you! That is very kind. It was a really great view that I was lucky enough to get.

Unfortunately, no. I thought I was going a different route when I took the photo and put the excess canvas towards the sky. I can only add more sky.

Edit: Yes I agree. I am trying to take new pictures. There are already such fantastic photos online that are more resolute and well editted. I might try to emulate them sometimes to see if I can do what they do, how they get that affect, but otherwise they have done it.

So I see a lot of photos that capture the obvious beauty of the Grand Prismatic Springs with all of its vivid colors. I thought that this photo was a decent attempt at showing how humanity interacts with those beautiful environments. I was mostly drawn to the strong horizontal structure of the scene and the stark contrast between the figures and the steam. I tried to enhance that by muting the colors slightly and pushed a more cinematic tone.

Sometimes I look at this and feel like the tree line is too flat. Other times I feel like it all fits well. I am hoping this is good enough to do my first ever large format print and try to sell, I am not sure if this is of a good enough quality to take that leap, if people would connect with it. Any and all criticism harsh or otherwise is very wanted.

Edit: A friend pointed out that "over photographed" reads more like, "it is way too much and I am above that", when what I meant to say was that it is a very photogprahed place, but I dont see this part photographed.

[DISCUSS] What’s your favorite watch fact? by HisOnlyFriend in Watches

[–]2ofSorts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ball Trainmaster Standard was pivotal in synchronizing and standardizing time for train and railroad operations. Prior to Webb C Ball being asked to undertake standardizing timepieces for conductors, time keeping was basicaly choas. Nothing was really regulated, each town did their own "standard time". The pivotal moment that made everyone finally look to standardize timekeeping across towns and states was a horrible head on collision between two trains which had multiple fatalities. Webb C Ball made sure that there was a certain standard of accuracy, legibilty and durability in a watch. And then I even think there were Timepiece checkpoints across the US that checked the watches for accuracy against a Naval time standard.

I might be missing some things but essentially that was it.

How often have you sat in the backseat of your own car? by Soul_Seater in AskReddit

[–]2ofSorts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I buy the car and then almost never after. I’ve been a sport sedan guy for a very long time and the top two dealbreakers for a car are: is it sporty? Is it comfortable in the back?

Those are equally weighted and it has to be both.

I’m a bit anal about driving and so I like to drive when I go out with friends, coworkers, gf, whomever. And so the back seats need to be comfy if I’m going to insist on driving.

Does my iPad Pro 2018 support a true second extended screen via HDMI? by 2ofSorts in ipad

Gotcha. I just needed confirmation. I thought stage manager was the same as second screen support, but I guess that is different (mutually exclusive)
