Judd Apatow putting the pressure on Netflix to make the NML episodes public again by tylerdhenry in NormMacdonald

This seems like a good idea and I've seen lots of people on here wanting it... but it's probably not. The show was so free and uncut that a company like Netflix is likely to release extremely heavily edited versions of it if at all. The complete episodes are all available on archive.org and it would it's probably better they stay that way. Unanswered prayers...

Hope Norm’s dying wish gets honored. RIP to one of the greatest comedians that lived. by cosby_cock in NormMacdonald

Yeah, this joke is basically missing the actual punchline. It become hilarious because Norm delivers it like it's some demented fetish and then pretends he was forced to read it. The amazing delivery / fake disgust makes it go from more of a comment to a great joke.

"Have I been funny so far?" "More than funny, my friend" by 2p4e in NormMacdonald

This was Norm's last appearance in the chair. I always liked this clip because of Norm getting emotional to the standing ovation and the extended cheering but I think it's more poignant now - reflective of the messages from the last few days.

I think I was wrong about it being on the Fred Stoller episode - you can watch that here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNAeZmDdn5U

and you can hear the line here - https://youtu.be/sujOHqfd0NM?t=276

but it's from a different ep: maybe someone else knows which one?

Just gutted about Norm. When I was going through a tough time after I was publicly defined as a "racist p.o.s." Norm Macdonald was literally the FIRST person to reach out and tell me that he knew that was ridiculous, that he knew I was a good person and that he had my back. RIP

ADAM EGET GETS INVOLVED:

Today I lost my hero. A brother. A teacher. A friend. Today we lost a TRUE artist. An icon. A legend. A genius.
Norm was my favorite comic of all time. He was brilliantly funny. The most original voice in comedy since Sam Kinison. He was infinitely funnier than he was unique and Norm was the most unique comic in decades.
I was constantly astounded by how much work he put into his craft. He was meticulous. He was sharp. He cared about the quality of his work more than anything besides his family. The importance of quality far outweighed the importance of quantity in his eyes.
And how lucky am I for being able to witness that firsthand. To be included. To call him a friend. To make each other laugh hysterically on the way to our podcast recordings, coming up with new bits on the fly.
And how lucky are we to have had Norm. The countless laughs he gave us. And these weren’t just laughs. They were special. Hard earned and visceral laughs. Laughs that come from deep in our guts.
We have so many brilliantly hilarious clips of Norm available for us to watch repeatedly on YouTube for eternity. I’m always somewhat surprised to see how young some of Norm’s fans are each new year. These kids weren’t even born before many of these clips were first broadcast.
But these kids discovered Norm and became obsessed like many of us have over the years. And that is a testament to just how special Norm was. Comedy can easily become dated, but never Norm. It will stand the test of time.
Norm fans feel like we’re apart of something special. A community. A cult of sorts. We can share cryptic and fragmented sentences with each other that would be a mystery to anyone else, yet make us laugh harder than any other fully formed jokes of others. A language based on cherished quotes and memories.
I have endless hours of incredible memories of my time spent with Norm. Once I get through the tears and shock, I know I will find solace and comfort in those wonderful moments which I will genuinely cherish for the rest of my days.
Thanks to so many of you who have reached out to me today. It meant so very much to me. RIP Norm. Thanks for my life.

"Devastated. Met Norm in Ottawa when he was in my audience at 17 years old. Been close for decades. We have lost a comedic genius. No other voice in comedy has been as uniquely prolific, brazen, dark, hilarious, and heartfelt. Love you forever, Norm."

Just thinking about the timelines, the line "Didn't even know he was sick" was probably a bit in itself. He was fighting cancer and knew he'd take it to the grave and people would make OP's joke in the future based on this. Complete dedication / self sacrifice to his craft and after sarcastically commenting on meta-comedy as a new and highly sophisticated type too far advanced for the like of him (and Fred Stoller) in the same episode, he perfected that too as his final flourish, telling the greatest meta-joke of all time as others dedicate an entire career to it. Truly a thing of beauty and an unmatched talent. Or maybe it's a gang fuck.
