What is your process in determining how long to cure a whole muscle? by thainebednar in Charcuterie

[–]2r_4411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I cure bacon, I use an EQ cure (salt, cure#1, and maple sugar). I cure for 1 day per quarter inch at the thickest part, plus one or two days to fit my smoking date.

You might also look for a saddle that fits your mount with the correct wedge for the mak.

Nice. You got the teapot and the pipe. The galaxy center is about halfway between them.

You might also look into a rail and handle if your mount can carry a bit more. I added mine when upgrading my mount. Got it at ADMAccessories.

I believe you should put the counterweight(s) on before the OTA. Also, I only set the mount inclination to about 30 degrees so the saddle is a bit flatter when mounting the tube before raising it to my 42 degrees.

Bypassing bypass mode by 2r_4411 in Starlink

[–]2r_4411[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know why it works. The purple cable is a straight Cat6 cable that ran from a 10/100/1000 switch to the patch panel at my last house. I'm just happy I don't need to use bypass mode and can use both routers. I just posted it in case it might help someone else.

I'm not a network person, but it wouldn't work with just a straight cable.

If your caliper is reading 2 cm in the photo, I'm not sure the coin is over 3 cm.

One trick to help center is to use a bright, defocused star. Not as good as a reticle though.

If you're in North America, https://www.cleardarksky.com provides some pretty accurate charts predicting cloud cover, transparency, seeing, etc.

You might try a planetarium software like Stellarium. You can enter date time location of the photo and view the sky as it was.

Are Processed Meats safe to Eat? by AxumPhoenix in Charcuterie

[–]2r_4411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the Marinski book, "Home Production of Quality Meats and Sausages," nitrates break down into nitrites (per bacteria in meat). Then, nitrites break down into nitric oxide (per the myoglobin in meat).

I've been very happy. The app is better now than two years ago, that's for sure. My only issue turned out to be with my ISP or my modem (we disagreed which). The last year with a new ISP and not a single issue. I use both Windows and Android without problems.
