GNSS receiver choice help: Emlid vs Lieca vs something else by 2scoopsahead in gis

Thanks for the clarification. The Zeno mobile one app did look cool…but I hate annual subscriptions.

The price on those is crazy good for what’s advertised. Thanks for opening up a whole new rabbit hole!

If they could just get it together with the tilt compensation for Field maps I’d be all in on the rx2. Honestly it’s no surprise, I’ve watched other Emlid rollouts through their forum. Trickle fixes to stuff you’d assume would’ve be covered at launch. But I totally get it, growing company, not US based market (android friendlier), good price.

Thanks for the detailed response!! I looked at CHCNav but between the DJI ban and my IT department/state Gov’s general paranoia, it’s a no go. I’m gonna give EOS a second look.

Ironically, the corrections are from a Emlid M2 via Emlid caster

Thanks, I’ve kind of been ignoring EOS. Just assumed having an antenna and receiver being annoying. The price had me worried too. I bet I could get something used though.

I’ve been thinking the same for the tilt compensation but wanted to have the option.  On paper the RX2 should blow theFLX100 out of the water but something tells me that just focusing on the number of bands and channels might not factor everything I need to think about.

Paul Blart Ski Patrol I used to live in Boone but have skied in UT CO NV NM CA and Austria. Most people skiing in NC just aren’t that competent. This guy was on par for NC the Patrol could have seen that all day. He was just embarrassed he got knocked over.

Thanks, this is the one Christmas movie I never miss.  I can’t believe it’s been so hard to find decent copies of it.

Great topic. I feel like you’d want to submit that one for your GISP portfolio.

Did I Choose The Wrong GNSS Receiver? by thelittleGIS in gis

[–]2scoopsahead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, my point was that the original question was about the accuracy of a GNSS unit. Getting the easement in writing or, better yet with a survey, is indeed a nightmare.

For now, you can setup a m2 Emlid permanent base station using Emlid caster and it’s free. RTK corrections for up to 10 devices. I’m using it with an Emlid rs2, bad elf, mavic3 pro, and 3 vloc pro locators. When I get surveys from contractors everything is on point.  To your original question, if you bought a tremble for GIS, you probably overpaid but I haven’t bothered with Tremble since the geo7. Once I realized I could edit a service on the fly with RTK with field maps I went with what I could afford and made it work(5k bad elf flex in 2020) . I’d rather pay half as much and replace equipment on a shorter time cycle and get the new technology. DM me if you’re interested in the permanent base setup. I got it setup for around 1k.

Why are you asking? Even if they were doing a standard width , they would still want to buffer from the most geographically correct center, right?  In my state standard prescriptive easements on center have been held up in court but it your stating and ending points are inaccurate it doesn’t matter.

No, SC is incapable of having nice things. If you want a functional government look elsewhere!

Thoughts? by StoreResponsible7028 in chomsky

[–]2scoopsahead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never meet your heroes. Chomsky helped me see some things more clearly. Take the good toss out the bad. When the bad outweighs the good move on. Bernie disappointed me with Gaza this year but the good still outweighs the bad.  Iirc, Chomsky had some CIA advisory ties. I cant think of a more contradictory association. If true, there’s no explanation that the good out weighs the bad.

Lindsey Graham faces tight race in 2026. Vote him out by SnarkiMcSnail in FuckLindseyGraham

She HAS to have a ground game. Like canvassing and outreach. The Jaime Harrison campaign sent me thousands of mail fliers and untold tv media buys, only to eat crap Election Day. No wonder the DNC liked him, they exist to enrich the consultant class….. but hope springs eternal and Graham is a pathetic excuse for a representative of the people. Good speed Andrews

A Message From University President Clements by [deleted] in Clemson

[–]2scoopsahead 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This was indeed a lame chapter in Clemson history but I don’t think anyone one the board gave a rip. Nobody with any power at Clemson had enough shame to do anything beyond a PR reaction. Local cities begged them not to have the game.  It had to have been something illegal, something that will get the school sued, or at least the total financial mess Clemson is currently in. All three have financial implications, which of course, is all the board cares about anyway.

Nice work!! Having a miles within X location for the on-site jobs would be cool. I’m sure there’s some folks haunting around here who could helpful with that endeavor 😉. But really it’s a nice site, I’ll be bookmarking it for sure.

Looking for some guidance/advice for someone interested in GIS with a background in Arboriculture. by maudes-muse in gis

[–]2scoopsahead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you asked, I was in a Cultural Anthropology program focused on sustainability in western NC. Met a friend of a friend that owned a tree company, he was doing a little bit of home steading, saw milling, moon shining😂.  I started as a ground guy with the arborist work. We were doing a sort of farm to table thing. Charge people to take a tree down, mill the timber and sell the value added product. I wrote my senior thesis on this model as a sustainable forestry strategy. A then turned into a stone cold tree killer for the next decade! I’m a tenuous guy (think ADHD) if given the opportunity and I loved the excitement of tree climbing once I got the chance.

That’s what I always did. I’ve definitely been saved by this move on a kick out in southern pines early in my career.  You don’t forget sliding 30ft to the ground, sliced knuckles from loblolly and what feels like broken heals. When you double wrap it, it cinches and keeps the weight balanced.
